Open Weaves of Summer

May 30, 2014

One of my favorite looks for summer … crochet tops and cardigans.  I love the beachy boho vibe!
Here are three outfit ideas …

But first of all, how cute are my photobombers?

I’m still wearing my ortho shoe, but I hobbled around in real shoes just for pics.

Love this H&M cardi with flared jeans, summer sandals, and a pretty lace scarf.  I look so cute, Rox wanted to make out with me!

How ready am I for summer?  Summer begins for teachers when we turn in grades and keys.  For me that was today!

Found this cool crochet top for a steal at Ross.  Also wearing Old Navy distressed skinnies and Seychelles sandals.  The sun hat is from Coolibar, a great website to go to for all things sun protection. Sunnies by Ralph Lauren.

Lucky’s look says, “Are you done, Mom? Can we play ball now?”

And how about one evening date night look?  Just right for a dining al fresco by the shore!

Kika ponte knit pants, Carlos Santana bag,  and Style & Co top.
If I’m starting to look a bit disgruntled, this is about the time my darn broken toe started throbbing, reminding me to put my medical shoe back on.

And that’s all for today, Dolls.

Looking forward to a summer with more time to check out all your fab blogs!

Broken Toe Style?

May 21, 2014
We all have our fashion challenges … figure and age considerations, budget limitations, etc.

And sometimes the fashion gods decide to throw a new curveball, like a broken toe!

Four to six weeks with this ugly medical shoe for me…

Not the end of the world, but definitely the end of heels for a month or so!

For sure, I have to keep my feet equal heights.  My gait is already embarrassingly lopsided, though getting a bit better every day.

I planned to find the perfect navy flat or sandal to coordinate with the hideous medical shoe, but so far, no such luck.  So, I’m living in navy flip flops and after several weeks, I don’t think I’ll ever want to see them again!

I’m not even sure that matching the boot makes any sense, but it feels so odd to have one shoe making a statement all by itself!

One day I did try to rock some cropped pants with a cute left shoe, but I just didn’t think it worked …

What a mess!

I gave up and went for bootcut jeans and sneakers instead!

I think I just feel happier with the emphasis away from my feet!

I sure appreciate heels more than ever.  I never thought about how great it is to just put on a pair of heels and have an outfit become more figure flattering.  Not to mention that little touch of attitude in your walk! I won’t take that for granted again.

So Dolls, put on your bitch clicks and enjoy!  Do it for me so I can live vicariously!  Hopefully I’ll be clicking along with you before I know it.

What about BOB?

May 19, 2014
Sometimes a girl just craves a change!
On a whim Saturday, I decided to cut my hair into a bob!

Not only did I see one of my favorite IG fashionistas (@chic_in_academia) sporting a new cute short do, but also my hair stylist.  I just decided to go for it!  There’s something very fun and thrilling about deciding at the last minute!

Loving the angles.

Can’t wait to shop for some cute tops with back interest!

Loving my haircut, but hating the medical boot for my broken toe …but that’s another post …(here).

Have you ever made a snap hair decision?  How did it turn out?
Hope all is well with my fashion dolls!
Summer is almost here!

Kika – Dressing a Better World

May 13, 2014
Would you like to look fabulously chic, feel ultra comfortable, and help protect our precious environment?

Well, welcome to KIKA!  This fashion forward company is dressing a better world, through their eco-friendly, American-made clothing line.

Best of all, everything is high quality and oh so pretty!

Complete outfit by Kika!
Let me introduce my new favorite pants … Kika’s Ponte Boot Cut is made from organic cotton, nylon, and spandex ponte.  They fit like a dream.  So flattering!
The top is their Vera in the color parrot. Such a perfect spring/summer color and a great basic. The Vera is made of Tencel, a fabric created from eucalyptus pulp.  All dyes and dye processes comply with the Global Organic Textile Standard.
Add on this adorable soft and stretchy Daphne jacket with a cascading collar for a total look.
The Daphne has a drapey, flattering shape.  It looks polished like a blazer, but it’s so much more comfortable!  I love the peplum detail in the back!

Now how about adding a gorgeous scarf?  Each season Kika selects scarves to coordinate with their pieces and the proceeds from the sale of each scarf goes to support women’s shelters.

This particular scarf, Tribal, was handmade by low-income artisans through a fair trade organization in Agra, India.  So beautiful in pattern and origin!

Make the world a better place through shopping? That sounds like perfection to me!
Disclosure: Kika sent me this complimentary outfit to review in my blog.  All opinions expressed here are completely my own.  I will receive a small percentage of sales generated through my site, which I will probably be using to buy more Kika clothing!
Tune in to this blog and my Instagram account (@fashionshouldbefun)
