Rock Steady

September 27, 2014

I had Gwen Stefani on my mind when I put together this outfit.  She always does black and white with red with tons of rock goddess attitude!

Okay okay, I know I missed the Gwen mark by a mile, but the outfit was badass in my mind anyway …. you know, in a middle-aged school teacher kinda way ….

Outfit details:
Blazer – Karen Kane (Macys)
Sweater – Old Navy
Pants – Old Navy Flirt Skinnies
Shoes – Madden Girl (Marshalls)
Sunnies – Marc by Marc Jacobs
Bag – London Fog (Marshalls)

Any luck with using celebs as style inspiration, Dolls?

Little House on the Prairie

September 24, 2014

I decided to give my gauzy white summer skirt one last spin before I put it away for the season.  I wanted to “fall it up” a bit and this is what I came up with …  kinda Little House on the Prairie-ish, but it made me happy wearing it!

Well, I did spend a lot of time watching that show as a child!

Outfit details:

Skirt – Old Navy
Tee – Old Navy
Jacket – Lucky Brand
Boots – Nine West American Vintage (DSW)
Bag – Oryany

So Dolls, are you giving any of your summer clothes a last hurrah and/or a bit of a fall makeover?

Emerald Python Sweatshirt

September 19, 2014

My emerald green python print sweatshirt from Altuzarra for Target arrived today!  And I love it!

Sunday morning I was at my local Target bright and early to check out the collaboration with Joseph Altuzarra. (You can read my review here.)  I loved what I got, but I was disappointed that there was not a green python anything in sight!  So I ordered the sweatshirt online.

The colorful print is gorgeous!  The fabric feels a little stiff, but I think it just needs to be washed. (I couldn’t wait to wear it!) This is an extra small and it’s plenty big enough.  If you’re thinking of ordering something online, you might want to go a size smaller than you usually order (unless you want it roomy of course!)

Outfit details:

Top – Python Sweatshirt – Altuzarra for Target
Pants – Flirt Skinny Jeans Old Navy
Boots – Franco Sarto (DSW)
Jacket – Lucky Brand (Marshalls) – (Cute option)
And yes, my thrifted burgundy purse again. I really need to keep an eye out a bag in this fab color, but big enough to carry all my stuff!

Well, your online orders should be rolling in about now. What do you think of your purchases, Dolls?

Altuzarra for Target Review

September 14, 2014
I love when fabulous fashion designers collaborate with inexpensive stores like Target and H&M to bring us some high fashion at low prices!  Today’s big launch is Altuzarra for Target!  I’ve been super excited about this collaboration and was at the front door of my local Target at 8AM with all the other mad fashionistas, reminding me of the Peter Pilotto launch in February.

So … this is what I got …

But first … here’s a quick look at what I tried on! Dressing room selfies are notoriously bad quality and these are even bad by those standards, but at least you can get some idea what’s available.

The line is very chic and there are many wearable pieces.  My big disappointment of the day was that the store didn’t have anything in the green python print, which I was dying to see and try on!

Many pieces felt like good quality for the price.  The flounce skirt is very nice fabric!  The black trench looked nice as well, but by time I got to that rack, they only had XL left! I was disappointed in the feel of the velvet pants, but I saw someone else wearing the velvet jacket and it looked very cute on her.  The python print skirt didn’t feel like nice fabric, but it looked cute on, except for the high slit, which makes it work un-friendly.  Also anything with sequins has very bright gold sequins, so perfect if you like that look, but not if you wanted something more subtle.

I ended up with the black flounce skirt and the python t-shirt.  Sizes ran slightly large, I think, so keep that in mind if you’re ordering online.  (This is a size 4 skirt and an XS top).

This is what I’m wearing out and about with the hubby today, who is not-so-patiently waiting for me to finish this!

Okay, Dolls … did you shop the Altuzarra launch?  What did you get and what did you think?

Khaki & Camo

September 11, 2014

To be quite honest, I’m not a big khaki fan.  I swear it adds 5 pounds … maybe 10!  But what could be more perfect with a camo scarf and black open weave sweater for a somewhat fall-ish  …
 safari-inspired look?

Outfit details:

Shooties – Madden Girl (Marshalls) (option & option)
Capris – Sonoma (Kohls) (Same & on sale)
Tank – Old Navy
Sweater – Style & Co. (Macy’s) (option & option)
Scarf – H&M (option & option)
Bangles – Tilly’s & vintage
Bag – Nine West

Is anyone having fall weather yet?!  If so, I’m jealous!  90 degrees in San Jose today.
Not quite pumpkin spice latte weather just yet!

So looking forward to the Altuzarra for Target launch on Sunday (9/14)!  Follow Fashion Should Be Fun on Bloglovin’ to check out my upcoming review!

Leopard & Stripes

September 6, 2014

Happy weekend, Dolls!  Isn’t Saturday just the very best?  It could only be better if I was at NY Fashion Week!  But here’s what I’m wearing for lunch, errands, and adventures with the hubby today:

Loving the leopard print and stripes trend.  I think a pop of burgundy with the bag adds a fall-ish touch.  And hey, there are even a few leaves on the deck to add to the autumn vibe!
Outfit details:
Red sunnies – Marc by Marc Jacobs
Leopard flats –   R2 (Marshalls)
Distressed jeans – Old Navy
Striped tee – Target
Leopard scarf – Target
Burgundy bag- thrifted
Trying to get wild Rox to hold still and pose …  hee.

Hope all my dolls are having a fabulous weekend!

Sandals into Fall

September 3, 2014

It’s that time of the month again (no, not that) ….  time for the fun and fabulous HOW I WEAR MY style series hosted by Adrienne of The Rich Life on a Budget & Jill of Everything Just So!  This month’s challenge was styling sandals. It was very fun to try to find a slightly more fall-ish way to wear my favorite summer pair.
(Not that we’re actually having anything but summer weather here in California, but I’m *feeling* fall-ish!)
These shoes win hands down for my favorite sandals this summer. I bought these Seychelles gladiators at DSW in the beginning of the season and haven’t stopped wearing them since!
I think the cognac color and the gold rivets transition nicely into fall with this leopard cardigan, gold collar necklace, and leather bag.

Details:
Sandals – Seychelles (DSW)
Jeans – Gap Always Skinny
Tank – Old Navy Perfect Tank
Cardigan – Merona (Target)
Collar necklace – Tasha (Nordstroms)
Handbag – Oryany (TJ Maxx)

And please …
why won’t someone invent fabric that dog fur won’t stick to?!

Hope your September is off to a fashionable start, Dolls!

Territory Ahead – Go With the Flow Long Dove Wrap

Have you checked out the Territory Ahead website?  What a fabulous selection of chic looks, just right for us ladies in our prime with lots of adventures ahead of us!

And hey fellow teachers, Territory Ahead has the perfect combination of classic, well-made, comfortable, and stylish clothing that we love to wear!

Territory Ahead let me pick out an item to share with you and I fell in love with this Go With the Flow Long Dove Wrap.  Effortless chic at it’s best!  It’s so classy, yet with a soft boho vibe.  I’m wearing the beautiful evergreen color. Be sure to check the gorgeous bordeaux color too.

How cool that you can wear this wrap loose and flowing as well as wrapped in a cute knot!

I love a versatile piece!

The back is the perfect length.
Such a cool cut!

The fabric is so soft and flowy.  It’s a great summer to fall transitional piece … perfect over a tank top right now, and then perfect over a long sleeve t-shirt or blouse when it starts to cool off.

Not only is it a great item for wear in the classroom, or any casual or creative workplace, but it’s also so adorable for the weekend!

I’m sure you’ll be seeing this wrap again in future posts and Instagram OOTDs!

Check out Territory Ahead and see what you could be wearing for your next adventure!
