New Ideas for Last Year’s Sundresses

June 4, 2014

I’ve never been a huge fan of the sundress, except for the maxi version.  But last summer when I was planning what to wear for a Kauai trip I knew I needed something short, simple, and unstructured to throw into a suitcase and wear on the beach.
These Old Navy sundresses were perfect!

The grey dress I also have in olive green.

Now, what am I going to do with these dresses this year? I decided to play around and try to come up with a new look for each dress.  Here are my five four looks … (I decided that navy dress was too short and better left as a beach cover up!)

Olive sundress with a safari style jacket, Seychelles gladiator sandals, and an Oryany bag.

Same exact dress in grey, with a moto jacket, Michael Shannon wedges, vintage cuffs and a spiked clutch.

Simple black sundress with a Lucky denim jacket, Carlos Santana bag, and silver Impo sandals.

Fuchsia sundress
with classic pumps, a clutch, and a snow leopard cardi.

So now I have plenty of sundresses for the beach …
that I can wear in other ways as well!

Are you a fan of sundresses?

Are you feeling ready for summer?

Oh, I love that first look. So safari chic!

I'm more of a day dress than a sundress sort of gal for coverage reasons. Out of all of my many, many dresses, only a couple are sun dresses.

Me too, Girl … I'm all for structure and coverage. This was a challenge for me for sure. Way more comfortable with these dresses on a beach than anywhere else! I like that safari look the best too!

What a wonderful idea and it turned out so well..
There are so many more options for toppers for each one of these dresses.
.I keep saying I want to do a year of no shopping and really see how many ways I can wear the vast clothing I have…

I can see you began your summer break by playing in your closet, oh, we could be great friends. This just made me smile to see all these creative looks. When I saw the first photo of just the dresses I was thinking . . . hmm, but seriously??? WOW, you took three simple dresses and turned them into some incredibly chic, stylish outfits. I sure hope you took them out for dinner or lunch or somewhere because you look amazing in all the creations you put together.

Oh you're the sweetest, Trina! We totally could be friends and go shopping! Where do you live?! Thanks so much for the nice compliments!! I really prefer dresses with more structure and coverage, but this was a fun little challenge and a chance to try something new.

I love this. You did a great job of remixing your dresses. It's amazing what a difference it makes if you add a jacket. Try adding a denim vest!!!!

You look fabulous in every one! I love the neutral look and how you dressed it up with the beautiful gladiators and jacket, love the leopard cardi with the pink dress. I am a huge fan of sundresses, especially here in NC. It gets quite hot in the summer, and I have planned a few sundresses for next week as well. Fab looks!
