Crew at Crue

July 24, 2014

Wednesday evening, my husband and I got to be a part of rock and roll history when we saw Motely Crue perform an amazing show in their final tour as a band.

Any of you around in the 80’s know Motely Crue was one of the iconic hair bands of glam rock.  My hubby and I were both in that scene back in the day, him as a performer and me as a fan.

The songs of those years transport me to a time when I drove a little Fiero, wore a Wilson’s leather jacket, used a ton of hairspray to keep my spiral perm looking “bitchin” and listened to Crue, Ratt, Poison, and Cinderella on cassette tapes.  (I’m sure I lost a few of my younger readers here ….)

But anyway, back to the present. What would I wear to this fun rock concert?  I didn’t want to look like I was wearing a costume and yet I wanted to be in the rocker spirit of things!  This is what I came up with (with a lot of fun suggestions from my FB and IG buddies).

I wore distressed jeans (Old Navy) and a black V-neck top (J. Crew).

The rock and roll is in the details … moto jacket (Members Only), layered chain necklaces (old), black booties (old and comfy), studded belt (Calvin Klein) and a pop of red with a studded cross body bag (Jessica Simpson).

Did I really wear something from preppy headquarters J. Crew to a glam rock concert? Yeah, but I think I pulled it off with the accessories.
And heck, isn’t that cool zipper back detail a little bit rock and roll all on it’s own?

(FYI:  this top is currently on sale at J. Crew.)

The concert was SO much fun!

Alice Cooper was such great opening act, with all his theatrical stunts!

And of course Motely Crue kicked some rock n roll butt!

Hubby and I had an absolute blast!
As always, thanks for stopping by my blog ….

 … and rock on, Bitches!
