Altuzarra for Target Review

September 14, 2014
I love when fabulous fashion designers collaborate with inexpensive stores like Target and H&M to bring us some high fashion at low prices!  Today’s big launch is Altuzarra for Target!  I’ve been super excited about this collaboration and was at the front door of my local Target at 8AM with all the other mad fashionistas, reminding me of the Peter Pilotto launch in February.

So … this is what I got …

But first … here’s a quick look at what I tried on! Dressing room selfies are notoriously bad quality and these are even bad by those standards, but at least you can get some idea what’s available.

The line is very chic and there are many wearable pieces.  My big disappointment of the day was that the store didn’t have anything in the green python print, which I was dying to see and try on!

Many pieces felt like good quality for the price.  The flounce skirt is very nice fabric!  The black trench looked nice as well, but by time I got to that rack, they only had XL left! I was disappointed in the feel of the velvet pants, but I saw someone else wearing the velvet jacket and it looked very cute on her.  The python print skirt didn’t feel like nice fabric, but it looked cute on, except for the high slit, which makes it work un-friendly.  Also anything with sequins has very bright gold sequins, so perfect if you like that look, but not if you wanted something more subtle.

I ended up with the black flounce skirt and the python t-shirt.  Sizes ran slightly large, I think, so keep that in mind if you’re ordering online.  (This is a size 4 skirt and an XS top).

This is what I’m wearing out and about with the hubby today, who is not-so-patiently waiting for me to finish this!

Okay, Dolls … did you shop the Altuzarra launch?  What did you get and what did you think?

So my local store never gets the design collab items in and I was reduced to purchasing online. I'm curious to know what you thought of the orchid print button down, the purple dress and the red velvet blazer. These are the items I bought and now I'm wondering if I ought to do a follow-up purchase because that python print looks adorable on you. Is the tshirt material thick enough to hide lumps and bumps?

    • Reply dawnlucy September 14, 2014 at 10:27 pm

Ooo, I love your choices! I tried on the purple dress and it's super pretty! I didn't try on the orchid blouse, but it looked lovely as well. All the red velvet blazers went so fast that I didn't even get to touch one! But I did see it on a girl in the dressing room and it looked nice. I thought the velvet on the pants felt weird though! Anyway, the python tee is pretty average thickness for a tshirt. Let me know how you like everything!

Well we don't have Target over here and also cannot shop it online. I think the Peter Pillotto was in part available at Net-a-Porter or some other such store, but I didn't check for Altuzarra.

The python print t-shirt looks very nice. It could become a staple piece as it instantly peps up a lot of otherwise simple looks.

Fabulous outfit Dawn Lucy! You have great taste. I'm glad that fashion designers are collaborating with Target and H&M. Target recently opened in Canada (YAY!!) and I have bought a few lovely things for great prices. My daughter Jean bought a beautiful Missoni dress. That's on my list. 🙂

    Have a fashionable week!

If I'm not there right at 8, then forget it. Actually even being there right at 8, some quick moving fashionistas got to the belts and trenches before I could even see them up close! lol!

I wasn't into the clothes for myself but they're very stylish! I did however set my alarm for 5:00 this morning so I could order the booties and the boots, then I was able to go back to bed and sleep in this morning! 🙂

The boots and booties were hot, but a bit too high for me! (Getting wimpy in my old age! 😉

Well…I PLANNED to head to my local Target today, dearest Dawn!! But I never actually made it…my husband and I bumped into some friends on our way, and ended up spending the afternoon at a pub instead!! I wonder if any of the Altuzarra pieces will be left by next weekend; still, I'm glad at least one of us managed to pick up some goodies!! XOXO

Did you find the flounce skirt to fit true to size? Thanks for showing us your haul!

    • Reply dawnlucy September 15, 2014 at 6:22 pm

I'm usually either a 6 or a 4 and the 4 fit perfectly. So if you're between sizes, I'd go to the smaller size.

Target always has such fun collaborations with good designers. I love animal print and a snake-print tee like yours is on my must-buy list. Would love some ankle skinny pants in the print also. I do own a snake-print pencil skirt though. You look FAB Dawn. Love your new tee and the fun earrings.

The black blazer is totally fab! It's pretty material and the peplum in back is so cool and flattering. I almost bought it, but just spent $ on a black Karen Kane blazer and so didn't think I needed it. Let me know if you get it and what you think!
