Quickie Adam Lippes for Target Review

September 29, 2015
So, normally I’m waiting outside Target at 8AM on the Sunday of designer collaborations, but for the latest one I was a day late.  My hardworking husband only had Sunday off this week, so I made spending time with him my top priority. (What a good wife, right?  Honey, are you reading this?)

So on Monday afternoon after a day of teaching, I dashed to Target.  The one closest to my work had nothing, but the one near my home did.
Here’s the good, bad, and the ugly of the Adam Lippes designer collaboration … including terrible dressing room selfies of a very tired teacher!

Do you have great legs and a bigger middle section?  This dress is for you! (But not really for pear-shaped me.)

The heels are adorable though, right?

Hint for ordering online … everything runs huge!  The tops shown above and below are XS!  Right … hello? I know they’re supposed to be oversized, but wow. (Normally I wear a 4 or 6.)

My other complaint about the collection is that so much of it looks so spring/summer to me.

(In this pic, I’m trying to bunch up the dress to see how it would look with a belt.)

There were some pieces that looked like a fall/winter collection.

This coat is an XS.  Need I say more? (I think the look on my face says it all!)

Now to my favorites …

Super cute fringy poncho …

And of course it’s horrible over the dress I was wearing today, but I really liked this cowl neck vest.

The only thing I actually bought was this sweater vest.

I’ll wear it tomorrow and sneak in a pic for you guys!

Edited to add:

By the way, the collection includes plus sizes and home decor!
The quality was about what you would expect from the price point … it neither impressed nor disappointed me.

So did you make it to this collaboration? What did you think? What did you buy?

I love the prints of this collection but sad to hear it runs large…I don't think anything will end up fitting me! That sweater vest looks like it will be perfect for fall. I also really like that coat but the XS does look really big!

Yeah I think everything would swim on you, you tiny thing! OXOX

Oh that sucks it runs so large. It will swallow me as well. His grid and plaid prints are beautiful. Love that wrap/poncho sweater, the beige fringe, sleeveless sweater, the B+W grid dress and in particular the vest you bought. I read another blogger's review and she only ended up getting that same vest you got, also. I really want the poncho thingy, the vest, the blue grid top and maybe the grid pumps (though the flats looked lovely, also).

Oh, no! I got a L in the two things I bought online because my local store had none of the collection and I like to skew larger with the designer collabs! Argh! Should I buy mediums in both the blue grid top and the sleeveless sweater if I usually wear a 12? Also, were the heels teacher comfy or should I pass? And finally, the sweater vest you're wearing – is it too heavy as another blogger commented or do you think it's fine for our SoCal weather?

Hey Dear! Let me know how the sizes work out for you. My first thought is go down a size for sure. The heels look fab, but not really comfy at all. And the sweater vest is definitely a chunky knit, but I like that. And how warm can it be without sleeves? ;p OXOX

Oooh! You had so much more to choose from than we did! Your choices all look so great! You look amazing in all. That sleeveless vest tempted me but it weighs a freaking ton! Much better on you. I did a whole story about our trip to Tar-jaaay … the huz was invaluable.

Dawn the sweater vest was really cute on you and I loved the red wrap too! Thanks for the review. Looks like they needed to rethink the sizing. xo Kim

I do really like the sweater vest you bought, saw in on IG. I dont shop much in the store, so online, and lets just say this girl is rolling over in bed at 8 am!! You are dedicated, even after work! I do like the long sleeve black and white window pane, but they do seem large. Look look great in your selection my friend!

I tried the sweater vest (the only thing I wanted from this collection) but the portions did not look right on my short frame. It looks amazing on you!

Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next week. Have a great weekend!

Look at the cutie patootie dressing room model! Love this but do not love the huge sizes as I tried on a dress and it felt like a potato sack. Your vest is divine. I keep hoping a collection will come out and wow me!! Cole tigons or not, Target still rocks and couldn't live without it!! 🙂
