A Casual NYE Look – Velvet Blazer & Jeans

December 31, 2017

Ready for New Year’s Eve?  Where will you be and what will you be doing … and of course, what will you wear?!

how to style a velvet blazer

We still haven’t decided exactly what we’re doing for New Year’s Eve.  My husband loves to play things by ear and being little Miss Planner-McPlanner-son, it used to drive me crazy.  But it’s interesting what happens after time in a relationship,  I’ve started to actually love the spontaneity! And yes, sometimes he lets me plan my little heart out, especially when it comes to big trips.

If your NYE will more likely involve a local bistro rather than a fancy party, well don’t think you’re alone.  Here’s one look I might be wearing tonight.

My Outfit

I started with some basics … my skinny Old Navy distressed jeans and a scoop neck black ribbed sweater (I could only find it in blue on Amazon, so I linked that below, along with a few other good choices).

These comfy metallic loafers are also no longer available, but I linked two really cute Franco Sarto choices, one pair is on sale.  (Do you have problems finding the perfect no show socks for shoes like this? These are my two personal favorites: Nike & Converse.)

And I’m carrying my favorite simple black leather Rebecca Minkoff cross-body bag (exact bag now on sale, plus an extra 30% off!!)

I added this fun velvet blazer (also on sale).  Loving the rose-gold-beige shade (they call the color “coffee” but frankly I don’t think that describes it very well …. or maybe it’s just that I like my coffee much stronger than that!).  Velvet will continue to be big in 2018! (Other velvet pieces I’m loving: velvet poncho & velvet dress.)

Want to dress up the look a bit more?  Add some black pants and heels!

This blazer! I have a few velvet blazers that I adore (they are both quite old and I don’t wear them often enough), but the blush pink of your is just amazing! I love the easy pairing with distressed denim and those fabulous shoes! You always have such fabulous shoes, Dawn Lucy! Thanks for joining my Link Up On the Edge!
