Fall is in full swing and I couldn’t be happier! I love fall weather, fall food, fall holidays, and fall clothing, including this fall’s style’s trends! I thought it was time to do a little review of some of my biggest style trends this fall. Sure, as more mature women, we’re seldom chasing trends like our younger counterparts, but we also like to look up-to-date, relevant, and just plain have some fun with fashion! Here are few trends that you can absolutely ROCK in midlife and beyond!
Animal Print
Animal print is HUGE this fall! Though leopard has been a classic for awhile, this fall the trend is extra popular! Whether it’s classic leopard, colored leopard, zebra, or snakeskin, you can’t go wrong letting your queen of the jungle out to play right now! Be sure to wear this trend in the way that works best for you. Pick a more subtle print or a wild one; wear one animal print piece, or go animal print crazy! Usually I prefer to use animal print in small doses, like accenting an outfit with a leopard belt, bag or a pair of shoes. However, with leopard absolutely everywhere this season, I gave in and got a leopard tunic length button front shirt that I admit to just loving and wearing all the time!
Western
If you have a cowgirl inside dying to get out, this is your season! You will love the western styling in everything from boots, jackets, shirts, and jewelry. I wasn’t so sure how excited I was about the western trend, but in small doses I’m really loving it. My nod to the western trend are these cowboy inspired booties. Boots or booties with some western details are a fun way to update a fall/winter basic with a trend. I’m loving the mix here of the western-inspired boots with the feminine fall floral dress.
Suits
Suits are in! Nothing looks quite so professional and put together as a sharp suit, whether a structured or more relaxed blazer, with tailored pants or a chic skirt. A cool suit is a great wardrobe staple since it can be worn together but also the individual pieces can also be mixed and matched with other things. Wear a beautiful blazer with jeans for a fun weekend look a skirt or pants can be mixed a sweater for a more relaxed look. I’m feeling like a boss babe in this Lafayette 148 navy blazer and boot cut pants (okay, full disclosure: it’s not officially a suit, but it works as one, right?)
Plaid
Everyone is mad for plaid! Whether it’s a subtle black and white check or a Clueless-inspired bold yellow (remember that movie?), plaid is also all over the place right now. I love this trend so much. Plaid gives everything a chic vibe. A subtle plaid can be a neutral that can be mixed with many colors and even other prints. A bold plaid is lots of fun and attention getting. I can’t even begin to tell you all the plaid pieces I have in my closet right now. Here I’m wearing a plaid blazer and plaid booties! Do you like them paired together?
Polka Dots
Polka dots are another classic print that’s having quite a revival right now. Black and white dots are always a classic, but you can also experiment with other color combinations. Go with small dots or large dots and don’t be afraid to mix your dots if you’re feeling bold! Here I’m wearing a black and white shirt with the dots already mixed for me! Black and white dots are can worn with any colors and mixed and matched even with other prints.

I love leopard print anything! I have several coats, blouses, sweaters, a belt and I just counted 8 pair of leopard print shoes and booties in my closet! I guess I inherited my love of that print from my mom, who wore it regularly, she was cool and blazed her own fashion trails! I’m waiting for my red booties to arrive. I was inspired by you, and I know they will look so good with those animal print pieces!
Can’t wait to see your Halloween costume. Russ and I were Morticia and Gomez Addams for a party last weekend. It was a blast!

Love the first outfit because it’s so easy, and still polished looking. Especially with the red sandals. But the Lafayette 148 suit is my favourite. I think that Lafayette 148 has upped its game in recent years. I have a few pieces from them and love them.
