Looking Forward to NYFW

February 4, 2018

I’m getting so excited for New York Fashion Week.  I can’t believe it’s this week!

a peek at Son Jung Wan's latest collection

This beautiful sketch is a teaser from the Son Jung Wan collection that I’ll get the privilege of seeing in person on Saturday the 10th.

So, how does a blogger prepare for New York Fashion Week?  There’s a lot to do .. brands to reach out to, invitations to request, and of course outfits to pull together.

All of sudden nothing in my closet seems nearly fabulous enough for fashion week.  I do some shopping of course. I bought a couple of fun pieces I’m excited to share with you! But I don’t have unlimited funds for a whole new designer wardrobe.  Wouldn’t that be nice? But somehow I pull it all together!

On top of that, suitcases never seem big enough either. This will be my first February fashion week and I seriously can only imagine how I’m going to get all those layers and coats in my luggage. I’m pretty sure I’ll be taking two large suitcases this time around!  The weather report says it will be 76 in San Jose the day I fly out … and 30-something in New York.  Brrr!

I make a schedule for each day and put in any shows, appointments, blogger meet ups, parties, etc. When to comes to the shows, I actually learned in September that there IS such a thing as too many fashion shows!  I’ve heard bloggers say 3-4 shows a day is about right, and I went to 14 shows in 2 1/4 days!  This time around I wanted to give myself a chance to catch my breath here and there, and actually get a meal. It’s hard to pace yourself though when you get excited and want to go everywhere and see everything.

This fashion week I have a whole new adventure ahead of me. I’ll leave you a bit in suspense, but I’ll just say that I’m collaborating with one of my very favorite brands on something fun! You’ll want to follow me in Instagram, keep an eye on Instastories, and of course sign up for my newsletter to get all the scoop.

If you missed my coverage of NYFW in September, you can go to the tab in the menu at the top of the blog and get the full report.  Most shows in September were for spring 2018, so now is really the time to check out the trends.  This time around, we’ll all be looking at fall/winter 2018 collections, though sometimes a designer here and there will do something different and do the current season.

A look back at a couple of my favs from the September runways …

One of my favorite moments … a late night Italian dinner and gab fest with these amazing chicks!

And of course the rewardStyle party, complete with the 360 degree camera!

And can someone come pack for me? Seriously, you’d think a style blogger would be way better at this part of it!

Can’t wait to be there and sharing all the excitement with you, Dear Readers!
