NYFW Day One – Thursday: Lan Yu, Paris Hilton, & Soft Surroundings

September 11, 2018

I always go back and forth about how I want to document my New York Fashion Week adventures. But as a blog reader myself, I really enjoy the daily diary type of posts, so I’m going to stick with that. They always make me feel like I’m totally along for the ride and I hope I can make you feel like you’re along for the ride too!  My days were so full though, that I’m going to be splitting each day into two posts: morning/afternoon and then evening.

Soft Surroundings Anais Dress

So grab a cup of coffee, and come along on my adventure with me …

NYFW DAY ONE

Hot off the red eye flight …

I was off and running early Thursday morning on coffee and excitement (and almost no sleep), but at least I was wearing this super cute and comfy travel outfit!  I took a taxi to the hotel in morning rush hour traffic and as soon as I got there, I took a quick shower and dressed for the day in a fabulous look provided by Soft Surroundings.

Dry Bar & Lunch with Mary Grace at Seamore’s

After trip to the Dry Bar, and I felt more relaxed and pulled together.  Then I had the best lunch with the sweet and beautiful Mary Grace from Jambu.  If you’ve been following me for awhile you might remember Mary Grace from my February fashion week adventure!  Yummy and fresh seafood salads at Seamore’s were just right for the hot humid day.

My Soft Surroundings Look:

Soft Surroundings was happy to send me something pretty to wear for NYFW and I felt lovely in this Anais Maxi Dress and Slip. It’s a two piece look with a shirt dress and matching slip dress, trimmed with flirty lace. I love the fall floral and it’s lightweight enough to be perfect for the summer to fall transition.

Western details are super hot for fall, so I knew I needed some booties for fall with a western flair!  These suede Loni Boots in Khaki (available in Amber too)  fit the bill perfectly.  How cute are they with the pretty floral dress?  Love the bit of funky edge they give the look.  I’m sure you’ll be seeing them again soon.

I topped off my look with these Illusion Trance Teardrop Earrings  in Dark Amber, with 14K gold plating.  They shine and sparkle in the light.

Also wearing this pretty Arlington Bracelet – a special piece from the Treska’s Nebula Collection. So beautiful, but if you have small wrists like me it could be a bit big.

Carrying my Madewell leather tote bag.

Lafayette 148 NY – The Soho Concept Store

After our fun lunch, I was off to the Lafayette 148 NY store.  Umm, can you believe I asked for the address?  If you didn’t know either: it’s 148 Lafayette Street, NY. Ha! It was a luxe place and I was more than happy to wait there a bit for my outfit to come by messenger. The ladies working there were super sweet too.  If I had had more time, I would’ve loved to just try on clothes there for awhile! (You’ll have to wait until Saturday’s recap to see this look, but you can get a sneak peek on Instagram!)

Quick iPhone store tour!

LAN YU at Industria

Then it was time for my first show of the season, Lan Yu at the Industria venue. I love the excitement and buzz before a show, and the fact that Paris and Nicky Hilton were there made it even more electric. The clothes were amazing, of course. I was crazy over all the colors, and was particularly drawn to the colorful fringe and the long braids.

On the way out I got to meet NYC style icon Chris Lavish!  We have sobriety in common, which always makes for an instant bond.  He couldn’t have been sweeter and was happy to take a few pics with me.

I was heading around the corner to find a shady spot to stop and order my Uber, when who did I run into but Paris Hilton herself. Just in time for a quick selfie request.   She was super sweet and even took the pic for me.  Too bad I stepped on the train of her gorgeous sequin outfit.  Yep, just another embarrassing NYFW moment!

Whew, and now it was just dinner time … stay tuned for Thursday evening!

Dolls, as I go through my adventures, if there’s anything in particular you’d like to hear about be sure to let me know!  Half the fun for me is sharing with all of you! I hope you enjoyed my Instagram stories and I’m going to work on making a highlights folder of all the best stories and videos.

I remain, one tired and deliriously happy fashionista,

Dawn Lucy
