NYFW The Shows – Day 2

September 17, 2017

The second day I was at NYFW was Saturday, and gosh, it was a full day!  I went to five shows, along with the rewardStyle party.  Here’s a recap …

NYFW

The day started with outfit photos and coffee … of course!  Then Cathy and I went to the Skylight Clarkson venue for Taoray Wang.  We ran into Denton Taylor, which is always a pleasure.  He’s so sweet to play photographer for us.  Then on the way in the door, Jamie of More Than Turquoise spots us!  We’ve been following each other for awhile and it was so fun to finally meet her in person!  She’s super fun and sweet.  I got to sit with her and Kali, In Spades (always one of my fav people and fashionistas) for the show.

TAORAY WANG

Taoray Wang did not disappoint.  I would love to have something from this collection. I’m especially mad about this fringe jacket with the statement sleeves and obi belt. Drool!  The collection was sophisticated and chic.

RUNA RAY

Okay, I’m not going to lie. My seat for Runa Ray was so bad that I didn’t get one good photo. Not one!  So I borrowed this photo from Fashion Week Online. The focus of the show was appreciating nature.

CUSTO BARCELONA

The next show was Custo Barcelona.  Full of cheeky looks, bright colors, embroidery … it was a fun feast for the eyes.  And yes, I love seeing belt bags (AKA fanny packs)! I know they were the epitome of bad taste for years, but I can’t help love how practical they are and why can’t they look cute too?

BANANA REPUBLIC x OLIVIA PALERMO

The Banana Republic presentation was a madhouse and we actually missed the runway part of the day.  But it was super fun to go and run into Kat of KatWalkSF and Tillie of My Stiletto Life.  This BR collection was curated by Oliva Palermo and yes, she was there. I didn’t get too close to her, but I could see she was …. tiny!  Gorgeous … and miniature!  Hee!  My favorite part of the collection is the jackets and coats.  This red one is calling my name, though I need another long red wool coat like a hole in my head.

After Banana Republic, it was time to grab a snack and head back to the hotel.  I changed for the rewardStyle party and you can read all about that here.

NAMILIA

After the party, I went to the Namilia show.  It’s not everyone’s cup of tea … actually I wouldn’t call it my cup of tea either, BUT it’s always super entertaining, experimental, full of energy … and seeped in symbolism.

Another full day, ending with a big pasta dinner at 11 pm!  A hardworking fashionista needs to keep her energy up!

Trend report:  Obi belt, fringe, statement sleeves, embroidery, color, stripes! More on all that later!
