NYFW – The Shows – Day 3

September 24, 2017

My third day at New York Fashion Week was my last day this year and it was another fun filled day of shows and bloggers and people watching!

Trend alert: luscious rainbow sorbet colors!

Cathy and I were up early to have breakfast and get outfit photos and then it was off to our first show.  Even though each show is usually only about 15 minutes long, you’re there at least an hour or hour and a half.  You need to wait in line, check in, and then guests get put into a line based on their invitation.  I usually hate waiting in line, but waiting in line at fashion week is amazing because it’s the best people watching in the world!!

I was super excited to see the Francesca Liberatore show. I was gaga over the fall collection she showed in February and I think I really want to see that again!  But of course spring is going to have a different feel. Her collection was gorgeous. I especially loved the brocade and lace looks.  (And hey, do I spy a little mullet hair trend going on here?!)

I didn’t get into the Dan Liu show this year even though I had a priority standing ticket. Hundreds of people got turned away at the door, so I think someone overbooked.

Nina Tiari was such a kick and definitely one of my favorite shows this season. I’m writing a full review about the collection, but here’s a little sneak peek.

The Leanne Marshall show was full of gorgeous dresses in a rainbow sherbet of colors!    I saw a lot of ruffles, cut-outs, statement sleeves, and bare shoulders.  All the details were so feminine and absolutely dreamy!

The Council of Aspiring American Fashion Designers had a runway presentation showcasing new designers.  Unfortunately, the show was unorganized and many people left in the middle of the show. I felt bad for the designers, so I hung in there until (almost) the very end.  Not only was the show sprinkled with odd performances in between each collection, but it didn’t make it clear what designer was being shown. But I have to remember that CAAFD is a non-profit organization and I imagine much of the show was hosted by volunteers. The show ran late and I had to rush to get to the next show on time, but luckily I made it.

The Jarel Zhang show was my last one of this fashion week.  The runway was decorated with street repair paraphernalia, giving a clever nod to Zhang’s street style vibe. The too-cool-for-school models stomped by in colorful rain gear with sassy side braids.

After the last show, a bunch of blogger buddies got together for some food and chit chat.  That was really special because everything is such a whirlwind during fashion week that it’s hard to find time to really connect with each other. Again, it never ceases to amaze me how absolutely sweet everyone is and how fun it is to connect and talk fashion and blogging!

As always fashion week was magical and I can’t wait to go back again. I’m going to go back and do more in depth reviews of the shows I felt really inspired by, so keep an eye out for those.  Want to see what I wore (Day 1, Day 2, RS Party, Day 3)? And as always, thanks for coming along with me on my fashion adventure.
