OMG … I Cut My Own Hair!

June 17, 2020

Some of you know that I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a bob since February.  I had an appointment in March, that I didn’t get to go to, of course.  So … with our salons still closed and me feeling a burst of inspiration, I chopped it off myself!!

Please join me virtually for the big chop …

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE!

I’m not about to give any advice. This isn’t a DIY tutorial!  I only watched a few videos several months ago and that’s where I got the idea to do the pigtails.  Other than that, I really had no idea what I was doing. And you know what?  I love it!  There was a weird long piece in back that my husband trimmed for me, but other than that, it was a one minute haircut!  And I actually really love it!

It’s a bit choppy and uneven and you know what?  Choppy, asymmetrical bobs are totally a thing. Seriously, Google it! 😜

When salons open AND I feel it’s safe to go, I will go get it professionally done, but it the meantime I feel cute and sassy. It’s just the kick start that this weird summer needed! And I can’t wait to try my hair different ways …  wavy, smooth, messy … different parts … maybe barrettes?

Also, for those of you who have been following my journey to gray.  I’m at six months dye free!  I do occasionally use a temporary rinse on the previously bleached part to help blend the color a bit.  I’m loving the natural ash brown/gray hair growing in. I’m really looking forward to having a full head of natural hair.  It’s a journey that takes a long time, but I figure if I hang in there now, I won’t have to make the transition again.  Of course some people never want to transition to gray and that’s cool too.  I’m a big believer in doing whatever fills you with joy!  A spontaneous chop and going natural makes me happy!

What are you doing with your hair these days?  Are you going to salons yet?  Let me know in the comments!

And in case you missed it, be sure to check out my picks from the Chico’s summer collection!

Looks GREAT – I love it! Good for you! As long as you don’t go chopping it too short or start trying to “layer” your hair, it’s a pretty safe thing to try. I’ve been really tempted to do the same exact thing, but my hair is super-thick. I think I’d need garden shears to be able to cut off my pigtails! 😀

Haha … if it’s really thick, I’m sure it would be harder to cut!
