Ten Good Things About Staying Home!

March 14, 2020

Hey Friends …. I know … it’s getting weird out there. It’s getting scary in a lot of places, including Santa Clara County where I am.  And yes, we’re staying home.  So here’s my list of the good things about staying at home.  And please know that I’m not making light of what we’re going through right now AT ALL.  I’m just trying to keep myself positive.

what to do at home

WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT STAYING HOME?

#1 Your pets are SO excited to have you home with them.  Look at this girl’s happy face?!

#2 I might learn to cook. Maybe.  I’m the queen of eating out and getting take out, but I actually cooked one night last week: baked salmon with brown rice and vegetables. So healthy!  OMG, who am I?

#3 It’s a great time to take a break from hair products and heat tools.  And now is the time to dig out the hair mask or deep conditioning treatment that you never seem to have time to use.

#4 Along the same lines, it’s a chance to give the skin a break from make up and treat yourself to an at-home mask!

#5 You could try some new exercise.  I’ve been doing yoga on You Tube. There’s plenty of ways to stay active at home.  And walking my dogs on quiet streets seem to be one of the few low risk “out and about” activities I can engage in. It’s a great excuse to get some fresh air and sunshine.

#6 Clean out that closet, those drawers, etc. etc. etc. … Dear Lord, I always need to do this. And maybe this time I’ll tackle places I never get to: like the closet in the spare room, the junk drawer, the shelves in the basement (well … let’s not get too carried away.)

#7  It’s the perfect chance to read!  It’s one of my favorite things to do and I don’t do it enough! Can’t wait to catch up on blogs and indulge in some mystery novels.

#8 Catching up on movies and shows.  Need a good laugh?  If you have Netflix, try Tom Papa’s comedy special “You’re Doing Great” … (the first half is the best).  And … is anyone else excited for the return of Westworld?!

#10 Spending time with your family at home … quiet time, down time, time when you’re not rushing off to some place else … Precious, right?

With everyone going through this virus scare together, I’d love to know what you’d like to see on the blog in the next month or two. Are you even interested in fashion right now?  Is a trend report crass right now … or a nice distraction? Maybe you’d like to talk about athleisure for working from home?  I honestly don’t know and would LOVE to hear what you’d like to read about in the comments below!

And most importantly: be safe and stay healthy.

Best to you all always,

Dawn Lucy

How about stay at home lounge wear! What do you wear to clean closets?

Your dog is beautiful! Well here in Bulgaria all restaurants, take-outs, coffee shops are closed – only supermarkets and pharmacies are open – so only home cooking. I think you should keep your blog content the same as usual. I still want to know about coming trends, capsules, styling, etc. I hear enough about the virus situation on the TV and radio 24/7, I welcome the distraction.

Hi Lise, I totally get that. I need to tear myself away from the news to focus on other things to keep my sanity! I’d love to provide a fun distraction. Maybe a little escapist fantasy with some looks from Paris and Milan last month? And wow, you really are on lockdown in Bulgaria … and in California, I’m afraid we’ll be there before too long. Stay safe, Dear. ❤️

I love your blog ms dawn. How thrilled I am for you. I love your suggestions for times like these. Ran into a lovely european lady in Trader Joe’s and she said maybe this is Mother Earth telling is to slow down, be more grateful, drive a lot less and be more neighborly? In China, the air is cleaner as a result of this pandemic. Mother Nature is a powerful force. Love to you dawn. You’re so beautiful.

Nancy! How fun to see you commenting. Makes my day! And yes, I love to believe that there is a reason for everything. If nothing else, maybe the world can put their petty differences aside and help each other through this. And yes to slowing down, enjoying the simple things more … Please keep in touch. Much love to you, Dear! ❤️

These are great items to do when staying at home Dawn. I like the idea of catching up on reading and I made a dent in one of the books I have been struggling to finish yesterday. I should also think about cleaning my family’s closet. It’s overdue, that’s for sure! Happy Sunday and stay safe!

Hi Maureen! Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m going to make sure I take some time to read something fun today … a nice break from reading the news updates. I love having things organized but I hate actually doing it … lol … so this time at home should be good motivation to get some of that done. I can put on some music or a podcast while I work … and make it as fun as possible! Stay well and please keep in touch! ❤️

I’ve accumulated lots of samples of makeup, face lotion, shampoos, etc., especially after my online Christmas shopping. Now I have the time to try them out. So far none beat what I’m currently using, however it’s been fun and a good way to clean out my cabinet! Since I’m not wearing makeup every day, I’ve been using a face sunscreen I bought a while back that doesn’t work as well under my foundation. That jar should be empty soon! I’ve been enjoying the quiet outdoors. Last night the stars where so bright! Venus was gorgeous – I swear the brightest I’ve ever seen it. I assume it’s due to less air pollution.
