Trend Alert: 70’s Collars

January 15, 2020

Harper’s Bazaar and The List are calling them Disco Collars.  In Style prefers the term Exaggerated Collars. Whatever you call them, they’re back, Ladies!  Oversized dramatic collars are hot for 2020!   And apparently you get extra fashion credit if you mix your big collar with some psychedelic florals or graphic prints because Who What Wear announces the return of Retro Prints from the 60’s and 70’s as well!

that 70's vibe

Dolls, you know I’m in late 60’s/70’s heaven!

disco collars are back

I took advantage of our trip to Los Angeles recently to hit the vintage stores on Melrose Avenue. And I really hit the jackpot in American Rebel (must see vintage shop when you visit LA!) with this groovy shirt!

If you’re interested in playing with this trend, I personally thing the fun thing to do is to go with  a vintage piece! You know I love adding vintage clothing to my wardrobe here and there.  Check your local thrift stores and/or look on Etsy or Ebay.

Shop Vintage

If you do go vintage and aren’t quite confident how to style it, check this past post for styling tips. Most importantly don’t do a head to toe vintage look because it will look like a costume.  Mix in some modern pieces that still suit the vibe of the era of your vintage piece!  (Here’s another past post with a groovy vintage piece, ICYMI!)

Shop New

The Rest of the Outfit

The fabulous zebra patterned jacket, now on major sale!  The jeans are Old Navy curvy made raw edge by me (and sadly they are no longer carrying their curvy jean collection. I’m so mad at them! Don’t even get me started.)

So, what do you think, Friends? Is this trend a heck yes or a no way for you?

Also on the blog right now, super soft skinny jeans, flattering camo pants, and our LA trip.

Fun & Fashion,

Dawn Lucy

I am a huge fan of this look, Dawn Lucy! The big dramatic collar is so great and I find it very flattering, too. Such an amazing outfit. I need to go scouring the thrift shops soon!
