Another important wardrobe staple is the denim jacket!
Like everything else on my wardrobe staples list, this item is just so darn versatile! It can be worn with jeans or pants for a casual look. A denim jacket makes the perfect little topper for a dress too. If you have a more casual workplace, a denim jacket can seem like a friendlier option than a structured blazer. And of course you can also wear a denim jacket with shorts and with any length of skirt!
I think I’ve always had a denim jacket in my closet. In the 90’s it was a longer version in denim acid wash and I lived in that thing … with my spiral perm and “vamp” lipstick and nail polish! (But I digress ….)
My denim jacket of choice for awhile now has been my Lucky Brand cropped Tomboy Trucker jacket. It’s basic and goes with everything. Now J.Jill just sent me a new Fringe-Hem Denim Jacket to try out and I’m loving it too. It’s longer than the cropped cut and the raw edge fringe trim adds a nice on trend detail, while still being subtle enough to remain a classic.
Sidenote: I’m also loving these new J.Jill Authentic Fit Slim Ankle Jeans. They’re a nice light shade for spring and summer and the finished hem gives a bit more of a polished look, perfect if you wear jeans to work (as opposed to the funky look of a raw hem).
