Beaded sweater & FUN FASHION FRIDAY LINK UP!

January 30, 2015
Welcome to the FUN FASHION FRIDAY link up party!  So excited that last week’s maiden voyage was such a success and thanks so much to all the fabulous ladies who linked up!

Here’s my look for the party today …

Close up of the bead trim …

When I came out in this sweater, the hubby said, “Where in the world do you even buy something like that?!” LOL.  I love his funny reactions to my fashion sense.  And I’m going to take it as a compliment whether or not he meant it as one!

So where do you buy a crazy fabulous sweater with ribbon and bead trim?  The thrift store!

I had planned to pair the sweater with some flared jeans and clogs for a totally 70’s look, but the proportions just didn’t work. I went with skinnies and flats and was pleased with the results. What do you think?

The very best part of the sweater?  It makes a charming little clink & tinkle when I walk! I wanted to do the twist all day! Hey, did I ever mention fashion can be fun?!

And speaking of fun, I thought it would be cool to feature a few of my favorite fun looks from last week’s link up. So hard to just pick a few!  But here they are …

Suzanne Carillo of Suzanne Carillo Style Files looking retro and dapper.
Annette of Lady of Style looking perfect for a walk in the snow!

Tina of Tickled Pink Woman in her charming Downton Abbey inspired look.

Okay, so now on to this week’s link up fun!  Please link back and don’t forget to follow along on Bloglovin so you never miss a party!

Summer to Winter Dress (& Friday link up reminder)

January 28, 2015

Lately I’ve seen several bloggers wearing spring/summer dresses as winter garb and looking quite adorable!  So I felt inspired to try the trick myself.  Here’s my pretty eShakti birdcage dress styled last summer on the left and for winter on the right.

I have to admit that I was a little skeptical at first. but I really like the way my outfit turned out.  I added a turtleneck with boots and tights for warmth. I think it’s a good look for teaching … comfy and modest.  And I even noticed that eShakti still has this dress and it’s on sale.
(Actually lots of great sales right now at eShakti!)

If you’re excited to shop for spring but are still having winter weather, this would be a fun way to rationalize a new dress … style it for winter now and spring later!
(You can always count on me for an excuse to shop!)

Need more inspiration?  Visit these two posts for more cute dress winterizing ideas: Sweaters, Stripes, and Sweets and

And last but not least, please don’t forget to join us for the FUN FASHION FRIDAY link up party this Friday and every Friday right here at Fashion Should Be Fun!  I was so excited by the great turnout last week and can’t wait for another Friday of fashion fun!

Firmoo Review

January 26, 2015

One of things I’ve been meaning to do (how long is THAT list?!) is get some new prescription glasses. I’ve had the same old pair forever and because I wear contacts (with a side of readers) more often than not, I just haven’t gotten around to getting new ones.  But then FIRMOO made it soooo easy! They have fun and classic styles.  And all you do is order from home and your pretty new glasses show up on your doorstep.

I took a fashion risk with these blue and tortoise frames and I love them!

What do you think, Dolls?

Not only are the glasses wonderful and convenient, but Firmoo also sends along a nice case, a pouch, a cleaning cloth, and even a cute little screwdriver for eyeglass CPR!  Great customer care for a very (VERY!) reasonable price.

And who doesn’t need a spare pair of glasses?

Check out the Firmoo website here …

New Link Up Party & Warm Cozy Neutrals

January 19, 2015
Well, I’ve decided to try my hand at this link up party business. I have so much fun at everyone else’s party, that I figured it was time to throw my own! It will start this Friday and be called FUN FASHION FRIDAY!  Because fashion should always be fun, but it should be most especially super duper fun on FRIDAYS! The party starts Thursday evening through Saturday evening. Fellow fashion bloggers, come by and link up!  Readers, stop by and get introduced to new blogs!  Come join in the fun!

Now an outfit … here’s what I wore for a weekend breakfast out with the hubby.

Santa brought me these fab Michael Kors suede wedge booties.  So cute and comfy, and cozy and warm with the shearling lining (MK Rory Bootie) He also brought me this cool Lucky Brand jacket.  Yeah, Santa is good to me!

The jacket is similar to my little moto jacket which is probably why the hubby thought it looked so much like me.  But the color is bit darker, the length longer, and it’s made of a cool yarn-dyed textured fabric (with faux leather details) … plus he picked it out for me … enough reasons to keep it and enjoy it!  (Found it online in red and on sale here!)

The soft pretty scarf was a gift from my dear friend, Glenda (a little birdie told me she got it at Macy’s).  The chunky sweater was a Zara after Xmas sale purchase.  Also wearing – Old Navy jeans, Readers.com glasses, and an Oryany handbag.

Jewelry:

Earrings – Tilly’s (loving these lightweight earrings that I’m seeing everywhere!)

Cuff bracelet – J. Crew (great for small wrists)
Chain bracelet – so old that I have no idea where it came from!

Have a great week, Dolls & see ya on Friday!

Long Elegant Legs!

January 15, 2015

So to be honest, in the past I haven’t gotten too excited about blog giveaways. That’s probably because I never won one.
Until now!
Thanks to Gracey from Fashion for Giants and Long Elegant Legs clothing company, I’m the proud winner of this pretty and chic sweater!

Long Elegant Legs (LEL) specializes in fashion for tall gals. At 5’7″ I’m a bit of an “in-between-er” … many regular lengths are a bit too short for me, but I don’t quite reach official tall status either (which is usually 5’10”).  I often buy tall sizes at The Gap and Old Navy and now I’m excited to find an online store that totally focuses on and specializes in chic fashion for tall women.

(Outfit details: Sweater – LEL, Jeans – Old Navy Flirt, Boots – Areosoles, Bag – Carlos Santana)

I love that this long sweater covers my booty.  It’s so unflattering to have a sweater stop at the widest part of my hips.  Be sure to check out Long Elegant Legs’ lovely selection of long sweaters.

Along with styling it with jeans above, I also styled it with my faux leather trim stretch pants below.  Over forty, a woman really appreciates a long sweater with leggings or stretch pants.

How cool is the zipper detail!

(Outfit details – Sweater – LEL,  Pants –  Celebrity Pink, Boots – Adrienne Vitadini, Necklace – Lucky)

Which way do you like it styled best?

Have you ever won a giveaway? Isn’t it fun?!

Thanks again to Long Elegant Legs and to Gracey at Fashion for Giants!

And look out ladies, maybe I’m on a lucky streak!

Fringe Movement – Round Up!

January 11, 2015
I love fringe!

Maybe because I was born in San Francisco during the era of the summer of love.  Or was it all those sequined and fringe-edged dance costumes when I was a little girl?  Or maybe coming of age in the 80’s in the time of hair bands and glam rock?

Whatever the reason, I love it and it’s a big trend right now and will continue to be all the rage in the spring.  So how could I not do a fringe round up?!

First of all, let’s get to heart of the fringe movement … boho chic.

Loving this Roxy cardi/wrap that Santa brought me!

One of my favorite fashionistas, Monika from Style is My Pudding is the queen of boho, rock-goddess looks!  Love her fringed long cardi and her fuzzy fringy jacket!

Because Shanna Said So is reason enough for me.  Adore this cute casual boho look! (Side note: how perfect is the House of Harlow pendant with this look? Why did I never pick up one of those beauties?)
If you love boho, you have to check out Gnome Lover.  She’s my go to for anything Anthropologie!  And how adorable is she?
The always amazing Suzanne Carillo rocks so many different looks. Loving her in the this fringe-tastic ensemble!

Southern girls get in on the fringe action too with J from Bless Her Heart, Y’all wearing this cool aztec inspired sweater coat.
Boho not really your thing?  Fringe can also be so glam!  Check out these dolls.

Carylee of More Pieces of Me is a fringy glam delight in this fun mini.

And Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots is also looking gorgeous in her glam fringy skirt.

And look at this stunning fringe dress for sale from Sheree at It’s Not That Deep.
Amy Ann of The Real Arnolds is dazzling in this statement fringe necklace.

Ashely from Fancy Stuff and Pretty Things looks sophisticated and fabulous with her fringy necklace.  And hey, does a tassel count as fringe? Check out her bag!

Speaking of tassels, here’s the always beautiful Patti of Not Dead Yet Style wearing a charming fringy tassel pendant.
Jess of Elegantly Dressed and Stylish gives us another pretty option. How about a ladylike fringe wrap jacket?

Or super cool fringe booties?  Here’s some casual perfection from Debbie at Fashion Fairy Dust!
Maybe a fringe bag is more your thing?  This cool look is from Rachel the Hat.

And last but not least, the scarf is a stylish way to get in on the fringe movement.

Here’s the always lovely Jill from Everything Just So showing us her beautiful emerald scarf with fringe.
And who wouldn’t want to have Tea Time with Trina when she’s looking so pretty and chic in this outfit?
Bertha of Chic in Academia looks so cozy in this cute scarf. (Side note: that smile!)

Here’s gorgeous Adrienne of The Rich Life (on a Budget) wearing a long pretty taupe scarf … or hey, is it a vest?  Either way, it totally works!

Darling Megan of Posh Prime looks so fresh and cute in her pretty plaid scarf.
The beautiful Jill of Doused in Pink is looking comfy and adorable in her fringy scarf paired with plaid, jeans, and boots.
Here’s my dear friend and shopping buddy, Lynn (IG @lynnnie34) rocking some fringe with her cool over the knee boots.

And let’s face it, Annette of Lady of Style looks heavenly in anything, including a pretty fringe scarf of course!

So Dolls, what do you think of this fashion trend?

Thanks for joining me for this fun adventure through the land of fringe!

Sending out a huge thanks to all my favorite bloggers for letting me feature them!
(And as always, if you don’t want to be included, please just email me.)

And I totally apologize if I missed you this time around!

Should I keep doing these round ups, dear readers?  They’re time consuming for me, but OH SO FUN!  I’d love to get some feedback!

Winter White

January 7, 2015
This month’s “How I Wear My” theme was “winter white.”

Check out the fun round up!

With Adrienne:
With Jill:

I shopped my own closet and this is what I came up with.  I was really happy with the classic color combination and the easy sophistication of the outfit.  I’ve been wanting to try my knee-high boots with my cropped pants and was happy to find they looked quite cute together (though it’s a bit hard to tell in the photos).

Outfit details:
Ivory moto – Members Only (TJ Maxx)
Winter white sweater – Charter Club (Macys)
Cropped pants – Old Navy Pixie pants
Knee-high boots – Aerosoles
Bag – London Fog (Marshalls)
Glasses – Readers.com

Hope you all are having a wonderful week!
