How was everyone’s holiday?! Did you buy yourself a Christmas gift? When I was younger, I never did this, but as I get older I realize how important it is to treat ourselves well. Now I buy myself a Christmas present, birthday treat, and even a Mother’s Day gift (“from my pets”)!
This year I bought myself a Alexander McQueen skull scarf. This is something completely fabulous and frivolous that I’ve had my eye on for awhile!
The Scarf
I’m sure Alexander McQueen isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I love the edgy design aesthetic. I went back and forth trying to decide which one I wanted the most. I was tempted to get a wool scarf, but in California that’s only wearable a couple of months out of the year, and I knew that I was going to want to wear this all year around. I decided on this fun print with skulls and stars in black, ivory, and fuchsia. I love the way it pops with this all black outfit.
The Silk Shirt – (c/o)
This is another Lily Silk shirt. (If you missed my review of Lily Silk, you can catch that here.) I decided that a basic black silk shirt would be a good addition to my wardrobe and I was pleased with the way it worked with my outfit here. Silk just always feels so good and looks luxe!
Black Cropped Flares
Love these flattering Hudson cropped flare jeans. (The exact ones are unavailable, but I linked a similar pair.)
Studded Boots
My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale splurge, these studded boots always make me feel a bit badass! (No longer available, but I linked a fab pair now on sale!)
Accessories
I’m carrying my fav Marc Jacobs tote and wearing Kendra Scott earrings and bracelet, along with my Daniel Wellington watch.
Now, let’s talk about the belt. It’s fine. BUT what it I had this belt to add to the look? Right? Maybe a Valentine’s Day gift for myself?! 😀
The Coat – (c/o)
Loving my soft, warm and cozy J.Jill Chelsea coat. It seems to go with everything! And if you’re not a fan of wool, it’s a nice alternate to the classic wool coat.
A big thanks to my friend, Rachel, who played photographer for me. She’s always such a great sport at putting up with my blogger ways!

Fabulous look. I’m always buying myself “gifts” especially when I’m gift shopping for others. You know, one for you and one for me ?. Seems fair to me. Wishing a marvelous holiday season and a happy new year to come. Thanks for the link up.

Oh there’s usually a gift under the tree from me to me, haha! My sister does the same thing on Christmas! 🙂
I really like your skull scarf, they are so addictive! I’ve lost count of the number I have, I like to snap them up in the sales (now is a good time to buy!) and accumulate so many of them. The skull print is just the right touch for an otherwise fairly plain outfit I find 🙂
Thank you for the link up!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are having a great week! I’m enjoying that quiet lazy period between Christmas and New Years and relaxing a bit.
