Weekend Outfit Formula for Fall

Do you find yourself dressing with an outfit formula sometimes?  I notice that lots of times my favorite looks have the same basic … well, math.

My favorite fall outfit formula right now is: cool jeans + funky booties + lightweight sweater + moto jacket + tote bag + some fun accessories = a chic weekend look!

When the weather cools off more, I’ll be pulling out big, cozy, oversized sweaters, but for now this look works just right.

Let’s go through the equation … (my math friend teachers are laughing at me right now, I know!)

Jeans

Every gal needs some really cool and flattering denim in her wardrobe.  I splurged on these Frame jeans at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this summer and I’ve been loving them ever since.  I’m also all about these NYDJs for Chico’s contouring jeans.  And for many years when I was on a stricter budget, I lived in Old Navy curvy jeans, a great choice for the price.

Booties

The booties have to be stylish and funky, but also comfortable. You know I don’t do anything unless it’s comfortable!  These stretch booties from Jeffery Campbell are just right and my other favorite comfortable booties are from Jambu. (Use code DAWNLUCY18 for 20% off at Jambu.com).

Moto

If you’re a regular reader, you’re probably sick of hearing me talk about this moto jacket, so I’ll just keep this short: fab moto for a fab price!

Sweater

In California right now, the sweaters still need to be pretty lightweight.  I’m wearing a great basic black ribbed scoop neck sweater that I got a couple of seasons ago at Macy’s.  

Tote

I love funky cool little bags, buuuut the real truth is that I really love carrying all my stuff!   So when it actually comes time to go out and about for the day, I grab a big tote every time. This plaid one from Dress Barn is really inexpensive and right on trend.  I also have my eye on this practical, versatile, and high-quality leather tote.

Accessories

Any outfit really comes to life with accessories.  In this look, the spotlight is on this Alexander McQueen skull and star scarf. I had been wanting a AQ scarf for years and finally decided to treat myself.  I feel cool and special every time I wear it!

I added fun pink sunnies and star earrings, both from my Amsterdam trip. (Yay, I finally learned how to buy “souvenirs” that I actually wear!)
