Versatile Spring Dresses for Women Over 40

March 14, 2019

Who doesn’t need a pretty and versatile one-and-done spring dress in their closet? I scanned all my favorite shopping sites and created my spring dress edit. I only choose dresses that are versatile, something we could wear for many occasions, flattering to our over 40 bodies, and reasonably priced.

Why I Choose What I Choose

Versatility – Each dress I picked is something that I would personally wear for work, a date night, a party, an event, and a weekend outing. With sensible shoes and a cardigan or blazer, these dresses could be perfect for work. Add some heels and eye-catching jewelry for a date night. Or add booties and a denim jacket or moto for a funky weekend look. I feel like we’re all trying to become more conscientious shoppers, picking quality pieces we will wear over and over again and I kept this in mind when I made my selections.

Fit – Ladies, you are grown ups and can wear whatever the heck you want and feel fab in! But if you’re like me, you might prefer a more modest knee-to-midi length dress and 3/4 or long sleeves. I tried to pick silhouettes that would flatter different body types. I included many wrap (or faux wrap) styles because that classic style is universally flattering. There are also A-lines, perfect for pear shapes and hourglasses figures, as well as some sheath or shirtdress style dresses perfect for an apple or banana shape.

Price – I tried to pick dresses under $150, but a few higher priced ones did slip in there!

Sidenote: Karina Dresses are also another option I really like. Made in the USA, machine-washable, and wrinkle-free, they’re always a good choice. Unfortunately Karina doesn’t link with my widgets, so I can’t include them in my shopping links, but you can check them out here.

Also … Nordstrom is having their triple point days right now, so if you have a Nordy’s card, you will get 3X the points toward your next Nordstrom note, now through March 17th!

About the blog: Fashion Should Be Fun is me talking to you, other middle aged women like me who are over 40, but not over fashion.  We still want to look beautiful and stylish.  We still want to have fun with trends.  And we don’t need anyone giving us rules, because we’re all different. We all have own shapes and bodies, parts we’d like to cover and parts we still don’t mind showing off a bit.  This is a place for me to share my love of fashion with you, style ideas, tips, trends, and inspiration. I know how liking the way we look can translate into confidence and energy. I know we have so much life left to live and so much adventure ahead of us. Let’s show the world you’re never too old to have fun and be fierce!
