Sometimes just the right statement piece makes the outfit … and in this case, I think two statement pieces did the trick! Starting with some black basics, I added this Lafayette 148 NY Topper and Hester Van Eeghen clutch for a sharp city chic look.
The Statement Pieces
You might remember this fabulous coat, Lafayette 148 NY Sensational Stripe Alexander Topper from my New York Fashion Week coverage. I was in the mood for a boss babe look and thought this coat definitely gives that vibe. Side note: it’s currently on sale half off! (c/o)
I also added my Hester Van Eeghen red with black clutch. This was my special souvenir from our Amsterdam trip last June. I tend to be more of tote bag gal, carrying my life around with me, but there IS something sharp about just the perfect little clutch, right?
The Basics
I’m wearing my favorite black pants, So Slimming Brigitte Ankle Pants from Chico’s. Paired with a Chico’s Traveler’s Tank (c/o) and some modern simple black slides (c/o), I think it makes a perfect blank canvas for some statement items.
For jewelry, I also went simple with basics silver hoop earrings and my Daniel Wellington watch.

Also on the blog recently, a little hippie chick weekend vibe and a review of the Sands Hotel Spa (including celebrity sightings!)
The weather is beautiful in San Jose right now. I’m super excited to be heading into my spring break next week. Lots of fun stuff on the calendar, so stay posted of course! Hope everyone is doing well, and as always, feel free to keep in touch via social media and/or the newsletter!
