Ladies, I spent a very busy day at Nordstrom trying on as much as I could so I could give my readers the real scoop on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale offerings, including the ever important sizing advice!
As usual, my fashion road dog, Bay Area Fashionista, was along for the fun too!
Want to skip ahead and see exactly what I bought for myself? Go here: MY Nordstrom Sale Purchases!
I’ve been hearing a bit of backlash about how ridiculously excited style bloggers get about this sale. I get it; we are a crazy bunch. BUT this is the only sale I know of where you can get brand new items at a discount. So no, we really can’t resist! Sorry, not sorry!
And just a reminder: only Nordstrom card holders can shop right now. The sale is open to everyone starting July 20th.
For sizing reference, I’m 5’7″ and usually a size 4 on top and a 6 on the bottom.
Let’s start with …
The Charles Henry floral sleeveless wrap dress was one of fav dresses of the day. The blue floral is super pretty and the wrap style is universally flattering. I’m wearing the small here and I could’ve gone down to an XS.
This pretty Bardot Dotted Faux Wrap Midi Dress is so super flattering and I love the hemline. I’m wearing a 4 and it fits perfectly, which is typically my size for a fit and flare style dress. If I hadn’t just ordered a polka dot dress and jacket recently, this baby would’ve definitely be in my shopping cart.
This Eliza J. Faux Wrap Midi Dress is also beautiful and flattering. The yellow floral is so pretty, though personally a hard color for me to wear. Here I’m trying on a 6, which is just slightly big, so I’d say it runs true to size.
Much less flattering on me was this Caslon Twist Front Plaid Shirtdress, but it’s so cute that I wanted to check out sizing for my readers. I’m wearing a size small and it fits well. And it actually looks better on me than I thought it would. Available in two pretty plaids!
I’m including this Chelsea 28 Wide Leg Jumpsuit with the dresses. Not the most flattering on me, but I really think on the right body it’s a sophisticated alternative to a dress. True to size and comes in Petite and Plus.
This Vince Camuto Asymmetrical Hem Scuba Dress looked expensive and the cobalt blue color is gorgeous. It shows more leg than I thought it would, but if you have the legs for it, go for it! I’m wearing a size 4, so runs true to size. Also comes in black.
Okay, sheath dresses are notoriously bad on my figure, but I thought I’d try this on this Vince Camuto one for you gals. Cool stripes, but the gathering in the skirt is odd. This is a size 4 and is too small through my hips, so true to size.
The Topshop Bold Floral Midi Dress was so eye catching and the perfect floral for fall. However, the dress is also low cut and backless, so I can imagine finding the right bra for it would be quite a headache. Runs true to size.
A pear-shape like me just can’t go wrong with a fit and flare dress. This Chelsea 28 Ruched Bodice Midi Dress was super flattering. Love the pretty fall floral too, though it also comes in a pretty teal blue. It runs a little big. (I’m wearing the XS, which fits perfectly, but I’m usually a S.)
I think everyone who shopped the sale bought this cozy Topshop Cardigan, including me! They were sold out, but they’re back in stock. If you want it, don’t wait, because I’m pretty sure it will sell out again. Available in this oat shade, as well as a pretty rose, charcoal, and dark green. Runs big. You could size down one size and still have the oversized look!
The jeans are also Topshop and like most Topshop Moto Jamie jeans, they run small! I’m usually a 28 and here I’m wearing a 30. (Oh snap, they’re not even part of the sale.)
Okay, I’m really feeling this outfit. Loving these gray Le High Ankle Skinny Frame jeans. I was tempted to get them, but I had already ordered these. Love Frame denim, but when you first try them on you’ll be tempted to size up. Try to stick to your true size because they stretch!
The super cute Super Women tee is Rebecca Minkoff. I’m wearing an XS, so size one down. The Treasure and Bond Plaid Oversized Blazer will be a fabulous versatile basic for summer into fall and it’s a great buy. I’m wearing the S, so true to size (for the right amount of an oversized look).
If you want to wear the trench coat trend without spending a fortune on a Burberry, this
Mural trench coat is a fun alternative. Nice trench, fun plaid sleeves, belt with grommets. I’m wearing a S, so true to size.
Those of you who follow my Insta-stories will get a chuckle out of this one. This is the Topshop Leopard cardigan sweater that I said I think I had in 1982 and I just wasn’t sure I could go there again! What do you think? True to size.
This Topshop Dolly Leather moto jacket was a hit and a good buy at $200 for a real leather jacket. I’m wearing a US size 4. But I actually ended up liking this next moto even better ….
This funky little faux leather moto jacket ended up being a keeper. The Topshop Rosa Biker Jacket was super soft, with cool moto details. Comes in light gray as well. I’m wearing a 2 here, but I ordered the size 4, so true to size. For $58 there was no way to pass it by!
I also ordered this fun BP colorblock sweater. I love the colors and when the weather gets cool, I live in sweaters. It also comes in neutrals. I was tempted to get both, but decided to just stick with this red color palette. (But I’m still not promising I won’t go back for it!)
A fun double selfie with Cathy! She’s wearing the Chelsea 28 dress (shown above) and it looks amazing on her! I’m wearing Levi’s Cropped Skinny Jeans (true to size), the AG Sia Floral Plunge Blouse (I’m wearing an XS and it’s big, so I would say definitely size down!), along with the Halogen Double Breasted Blazer in a size S (true to size). Versatile basic alert!!
This Caslon “teddy bear” jacket is soooo soft .. super cuddly and true to size. (I’m wearing the S.)
This is the Frame jeans again (see above) with the Chelsea 28 Cordoroy Blazer (S). True to size and available in navy and this rust ginger (if I could wear this color I’d wear it all the time!). And I can’t for the life of me find this blouse on the website. Anyone know the brand? Very pretty, but very sheer (which is why I’m covering up with the blazer!)
This Rails linen and rayon shirt feels really nice. Very well made. Pink and cream stripes with a metallic accent with cute buttons down the back. True to size.
And let’s end with another blogger bestie double selfie! Cathy is trying on the Caslon Button Neck Tee. I’m wearing Frame jeans with this cool Trouve racer striped sweater. I was loving this camel and red color combo (also comes in plum), but I’m wearing an XS and it was huge on me. Size down, Ladies!
