Yesterday, my husband and I spent the day in Santa Cruz, celebrating our wedding anniversary!
I started thinking about what to wear (of course) and really wanted to wear my new jeans and new denim jacket. I never can wait to wear new stuff! I wasn’t sure if I could pull off the denim on denim look, but I wanted to try. I’ve seen bloggers doing it recently and looking super cute! So, this is what I came up with.
Outfit details:
Old Navy The Flirt Distressed Skinny Jeans in Luminere. On sale now for only $19! Link here!
And Old Navy long sleeve crew neck tee. Also on sale! Here.
Lucky Brand denim jacket. Found at Marshall’s, but here’s the Lucky’s link.
Shoes are Michael Shannon from Off Broadway. Several choices here.
Oryany handbag. Link for Neiman Marcus here. (Found mine for less at TJ Maxx!)
What’s your opinion on wearing denim with denim?

My husband and I live a half hour away from Santa Cruz. We decided to have brunch at The Crow’s Nest at Santa Cruz Harbor. It’s a great place to enjoy a meal and a view, especially on the patio when the weather is nice!
My camera shy husband agreed to let the waitress take this for our anniversary.
The weather warmed up so quickly that the jacket didn’t last long! (Also, later the heels were replaced with sneakers!)
I’m loving all the nautical trends right now, so now I think I need a boat! What do you think?!
Hope all my fashion dolls are having a fun St. Patrick’s Day!

You know what, dear Dawn?! I wasn't initially a fan of the denim-on-denim trend…but now I'm all for it!! You look fresh and ready for spring; and the blue pedicure is the perfect finishing touch!! Congratulations to you and your hubby on your second anniversary!! XO

Aww thanks Monika! I haven't been a big denim on denim fan either, and I'm not even sure if I would've tried it on this day, except for the fact I couldn't wait to wear my new jeans AND my new denim jacket! When I tried it, I liked it though! OXOX
Denim-on-denim is done when you style it like you do! Effortlessly cool you. I think it's the little intimation of French style with the shirt and the saucy shoes and girly painted toes. I get on my husband for wearing blue denim and a loose blue denim button-down shirt … he looks like an escapee from a local institution of some kind. But it's easier for girls, I think.
Happy Anniversary, late but heart-felt!
HAHA … I can just picture your husbands outfit! Yeah, denim on denim has to look like it was done on purpose and with a little girly flair! Thanks for stopping by, Dear! OXOX
I haven't tried denim with denim yet, it looks really cute here 🙂
Thanks, Ginny! It's my first time trying it together and I like it more than I thought I would! I might have created a monster! 😉

I think you have styled denim a cool way. The blue nail polish is a lovely touch and completes the outfit. Beautiful bag and shoes!

Oh, thanks so much, Ann! It's nice to let our toes out after a winter of boots! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!
When oh about 25 yrs ago, denim on denim was in and then soon it was out. Now it is in again. Nice posing photos. Thanks for joining Fashion item Friday, and sorry for the delayed response. I was rather busy Friday, getting two cancerous lumps taken out of my breast, ya – so I was a bit busy. lol
Please keep us posted on your health, Renae! Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way. OXOX
