It’s always fun to look back at the year and see what we wore! It’s the perfect time to look at your wardrobe pieces and think about what you really wore regularly.
Here’s a favorite look from each month in my year of outfits. along with some chit chat about each one.
If you want to shop the looks, I’ve included Shop the Post links, but of course some of the older or out of season items are no longer available.
January
This feels like a total ME look.
This plaid blazer has been a favorite all year long. It’s a great investment piece. Also in the regular rotation this year: the simple white V-neck tee. These curvy fit jeans from Everlane got worn a lot too. And the combat boots? Yes, I’ve worn them regularly , but I can’t help but think that I would’ve worn them more often if I had gone for something a little more simple. But at the time I adored the tough girl vibe of all the buckles. Silver hoops are from Kendra Scott.
February
Loving this suit from Elie Tahari. Honestly I don’t think I ever wore the suit together after this time, but the pieces each got worn separately a lot! The leopard heels don’t get worn too often but they always make me feel glam when I wear them. And is that a simple white tee again? Yes, yes it is.
March
Another simple white tee? Okay, okay, this definitely make my must-have list. The Elie Tahari pants … again. My houndstooth booties and pretty Kendra Scott jewelry and a fun bag.
April
The mock turtleneck and the classic loafers got tons of wear this year. Frankly though, the jeans shrunk and never looked the same after their first wash! So sad because they were so comfy! I probably just threw them in the wash and didn’t look at the label. I admit I’m really bad about that!
May
These croc effect booties were a shoe wardrobe staple all year long. I’m wearing them here with an old pair of Old Navy curvy jeans. I treated myself to this cool Anine Bing t-shirt with a photo of David Bowie on it. Because I adore Anine Bing AND Bowie, it feels like a special purchase and I’ve worn it a lot this year. The blazer is from the Elie Tahari suit. And my YSL bag was a great special investment piece that I used all year as well. I always feel really special when I carry my Saint Laurent!
June
A simple maxi is always my summer go to, though I don’t usually wear them past summertime.
July
A very simple white gauze maxi dress from Chico’s was my favorite all summer long.
August
A teacher dress from Amazon with short sleeves and a fall floral got tons of wear the first couple of months of school. I like the rugged combat boot vibe with the dress, but usually I ended up wearing my croc effect black booties instead.
September
Shop here!
These Slimsation pants from Appleseed’s have become an absolute favorite! And I’ve worn the turtleneck and blouse quite often. And now that it’s getting cold, I’m finally wearing this classic coat! And yes, those are the croc effect booties again.
October
Shop Caroline Vazzana.
Still crazy over this Caroline Vazzana dress, but I haven’t had many places to wear it. I’m looking forward to taking it for a spin this holiday season! The statement jewelry is by Kendra Scott. The bag and blazer are favorites. The boots are old and seldom worn, but for some reason I liked them with this look.
November
These rigid 90’s vibe jeans have been more wearable and comfortable than I thought they would be. The slouchy cut makes them comfortable even though there’s no stretch. I’ve had my eye out for a long tan cardigan, and this fabulous one from Everlane fit the bill just perfectly. And yes, those classic loafers again, along with Kendra Scott hoop earrings, and a plain V-neck black ribbed sweater.
December
And this casual NYDJ holiday look is my choice for December. So far I’m worn the sweater many times and the blouse and pants twice. It’s getting a bit cold for bare toes even here in California, but I think I’ll wear those cool shoes more often next spring.
…
It’s interesting to look at what I love the most and wear the most often. What items can I not live without? I’d say … jeans, black pants, blazers, midi dresses, long coats and cardigans, and white V-neck tees, black boots and loafers. I wear my Converse sneakers a lot too, though I don’t see them in any of these looks.
So, now it’s your turn. What did you wear this year? What are your personal must-have wardrobe staples?

Love all the looks. Love that black suit and how you wore it separately.
Thanks so much, Barbara!
