One Year Blogoversary!

November 4, 2014

On my one year blogoversary, I really want to thank all my sweet fabulous readers!

When I started this little internet adventure a year ago, I wasn’t sure if anyone would ever read it, except maybe a friend or two.  I just wanted a place to share some style ideas and have fun with fashion.  I’m so thrilled to have so many regular visitors now and so many sweet comments on all my posts!

Personally, it’s been a difficult year for me.  Soon after I started my blog, I learned that my mother had terminal uterine cancer and we lost her in January.  It was heartbreaking to me and I also felt the loss of my father (2012) all over again.

 (Mom and Me September 2013)
Thanks to the support of my wonderful husband and friends, I made it through this hard time.  During all this, my blog has been a place of fun, escape, and joy for me … and I can’t thank you all enough for being part of it.

A few things I’ve learned this year ….

1) Blogging should be fun too!  One of my favorite compliments I get on my blog is that I always look like I’m having so much fun.  Well, I am!

2) Balance is important.  Sometimes, I just need to step away from the lap top and clean the darn bathroom (or whatever else on my long list of things to do that day) and most importantly spend time with my family.

My husband and I with our dogs, Rox and Lucky.

3) Fashion bloggers are not mean girls.  Not even close!  All the style bloggers that I’ve interacted with are total sweethearts and very supportive of each other. I love that!

Again, thanks so much, my dear fashion dolls! I’m looking forward to another year of fashion fun with you!

Drowning in moving boxes right now, but can’t wait to post from our new home soon!

PS- Check out the winter style roundup and see a few of your fav bloggers!

Happy blogoversary! And my condolences over losing your mother. I lost my mother to ovarian cancer 18 years ago, and it felt so unfair as she was still quite young and should have had many years to live. It still feels unfair. Cancer is a horrible way to die, as I'm sure you know. But, life also has positive surprises, so enjoy the success of your blog and your new house.

    • Reply dawnlucy November 5, 2014 at 3:46 pm

Thanks, Tina. Yes, cancer is horrible for sure. Thanks for the condolences. I miss her a lot. But yes, life has nice surprises too! 🙂

Darling Dawn Lucy! Congrats and hope you blog on as long as you are having this much fun. I fall down in the "clean the bathroom" area, but can't really manage much shame about it. I'll work on that.
You are so right about all of your observations. And we are all so happy you decided to jump in the deep end with us! Here, you swim like a long, tall mermaid … mindful of those of us who still just dog paddle. Your blog is always an "upper" and I'm always so glad when you stop by at my place.
I identify too, about being orphaned as an adult. As an only child with few other relatives, my huz and I have leaned even closer together. I'm glad you are coping so beautifully.
Again … Happy Blogaversary! You look beautiful, every time!

    • Reply dawnlucy November 6, 2014 at 9:49 pm

Wow, Jan, we have so much in common. I'm also an only child and was so close to my folks since it was always just the three of us. You have such a sweet nature and such a poetic way to word things! I'll keep trying to be the mermaid, you sweetheart, you! You're one of my very favorites, Dear!
