NYFW: Friday Night – Rock Star Moment & Celebrity Sightings

September 16, 2018

Everybody deserves a rock star moment, and I had mine this New York Fashion Week.  When I got out of the Uber at Spring Studios, a bunch of photographers swarmed me for pics. It felt wonderful, I’m not going to lie!  Now in a perfect world I would’ve seen some of those shots show up somewhere … like maybe a NYFW street style recap? But no … no matter … I had my moment and it was fun!

The Michael Costello Show

My first show of the evening was Michael Costello, always one of favorite shows. I love the glamour Michael always brings, and he always has good music and mood lighting as well.  Unforunately I had been having problems with my camera all fashion week and this is the time the poor thing just gave out. I had to settle for iPhone pics at the rest of my shows, and photos borrowed from sweet friends (Kali & Matt of In Spades Blog.)

Another thing I loved about this show … it was the one show where most of my girls were all together: Kali, Laura, Kat, Kelsey, Emily (a new friend) … And I got to briefly meet Miss J. Alexander and Tituss Burgess.

The Chromat Show

I chatted a bit with the nicest folks waiting for the Chromat show, including Ty Hunter and Justiin Davis.  Justiin said he was an actor and he looks so young, that I just assumed he was just starting out.  I can’t remember exactly when I said to him, but I sure felt sheepish when I found out he was in the hit show Boardwalk Empire!  And I certainly should have recognized famous stylist Ty Hunter, I’m following him in IG for goodness sake, but I didn’t. Thankfully both men couldn’t have been sweeter or more down to earth.

I’ve been hearing stories about the progressive Chromat fashion shows. They pride themselves on inclusivity which means their models come in a variety of sizes, shapes, ages, and ethniticities. I was not disappointed and they even had a model with a prosethic leg, along with the trans community represented.  It was empowering and beautiul!  Bravo, Chromat!

The Vivienne Hu Show

The Vivienne Hu runway was full of whimsy, bright colors, fun ruffles, and textural interest.

The evening ended with an Italian feast with Laura. We had worked hard all day and we were tired and hungry.  It’s always fun at the end of the day to meet up with fashion friends and hear all about their NYFW day.

ICYMI, read my other fashion week diaries, Thursday, Thursday Night, and Friday!  One more day of crazy fun to come!!

I can see that we are all going to be wearing blue and white colourblock in a season coming. That was the most striking to me to become a thing. Hope you had a great time. Jealous of your paparazzi moment.
