New York Fashion Week is only a week away … and we’re all so excited to see what our favorite designers will send down the runway for spring/summer 2020!
One beautiful sketch from the Son Jung Wan Spring/Summer 2020 Collection
SHOWS
Son Jung Wan is always one of my very favorite shows each season. Here’s a look at her Fall/Winter collection which showed in February, and I can’t wait to see what comes down the runway in September! I love how her PR team always sends me a little sneak peek of the latest collection.. This season’s inspiration is a reimagining of pop retro into a trendy modern diversity.
Another gorgeous sketch from Son Jung Wan S/S 2020!
I’ve also been invited to Taoray Wang, another of my favorites. And I always give my support to Chromat, a brand who is leading the way in model diversity. For the first time, I’m going to get to experience shows by MRHUA MRSHUA, I Love Pretty, and Damo Wang. Very excited about each and every one of these shows!
And as I’m writing this, an invitation to Rebecca Minkoff just came in! Ooohhh … super excited about that one! It will be presentation on the Fall/Winter collection, so that will be a nice change from the spring/summer collections. I’m pretty sure it will be immediately shoppable. How dangerous is that for my budget?!
A bloggers’ NYFW schedule is always shifting, with new invitations coming in and meet ups with friends always trying to be worked out around everyone’s busy schedules.
OUTFITS
And of course there’s always my outfit planning, which is so much fun for me. I love the chance to go all out and wear things that wouldn’t necessarily fit in my day-to-day life. Want a little teaser about my outfits? I’ve decided to name my looks for fashion week and so far I have the Punk Rock Flapper look and the Steve Nicks/Little House on the Prairie look. Intrigued? Scared?! Stay tuned!!
SELF-CARE
Some of my regular readers might remember that in February I came home from NYFW with shingles, something my doctor was pretty sure was brought on by stress. My pure excitement for fashion week would get me through a red eye flight, little to no sleep, no regular meals, dehydration, long walks, standing in long lines … along with the excitement and the stress of trying to fit it all in, and trying to bring my most confident A-game to the party! It just got to be too much and by the last day I was there in February, I was feeling really sick. So, this time I’m trying a new approach. I’m flying out Thursday during the day instead of taking a red eye flight. That right there will reduce my experience by one whole day of shows, but I thought it was worth it. Now, the trick is to not over schedule every minute I’m there. It’s hard because I get excited and don’t want to miss anything. Ahh balance … I’m always working that tricky concept! Who can relate?

About the blog: Fashion Should Be Fun is me talking to you, other middle aged women like me who are over 40, but not over fashion. We still want to look beautiful and stylish. We still want to have fun with trends. And we don’t need anyone giving us rules, because we’re all different. We all have own shapes and bodies, parts we’d like to cover and parts we still don’t mind showing off a bit. This is a place for me to share my love of fashion with you, style ideas, tips, trends, and inspiration. I know how liking the way we look can translate into confidence and energy. I know we have so much life left to live and so much adventure ahead of us. Let’s show the world you’re never too old to have fun and be fierce!
