What I Wore to the Zoo

January 20, 2026

One day my husband and I went for a ride and just ended up at an animal sanctuary and zoo that we didn’t even know existed!

When we go for a ride, you never know what we might end up doing, so I try to wear something versatile. This day, I wore my embroidered sweater from Charlie B. which is almost sold out (this one is cute), and my comfortable Kut from the Kloth jeans, comfortable Naot Helm booties, and carried my crossbody bag from All Saints. It ended up being perfect for an afternoon exploring the zoo and visiting all the animals.

If you are ever in the Salinas, California area, check out the Monterey Zoo. It’s beautiful with well-loved animals, a helpful staff, not too crowded, and a great learning experience. They even have adorable cabins you can stay in overnight and listen to the lions roar as you fall asleep!

Want to see some more versatile casual outfits? How about this one from Quince and this cozy look for a winter day dog walk?

About the blog: Fashion Should Be Fun is me talking to you, other middle aged women like me who are over 40, but not over fashion.  We still want to look beautiful and stylish.  We still want to have fun with trends.  And we don’t need anyone giving us rules, because we’re all different. We all have our own shapes and bodies, parts we’d like to cover and parts we still don’t mind showing off a bit.  This is a place for me to share my love of fashion with you, style ideas, tips, trends, and inspiration. I know how liking the way we look can translate into confidence and energy. I know we have so much life left to live and so much adventure ahead of us. Let’s show the world you’re never too old to have fun and be fierce!
