I love to shop for and style retro pieces. This mod-vibe polyester zip-up-the-back sleeveless top was a thrift store find from a trip to Portland several years ago. I always like to bring home a style souvenir or two from a trip. Retro pieces can really add unique options to your closet and help you create your own individual look.

It’s almost summer! Oh okay, maybe we have another month until it officially starts … and we’ve been having unusually cold weather lately in San Jose… BUT I know summer is just around the corner and I’m getting my wardrobe ready for it!
Continuing my How to Build a Wardrobe blog series, this month we’re going to discuss what to do about trends and where to find inspiration?

Here I’m wearing animal print, both a classic and also huge trend right now!
Many mature women aren’t quite sure what to do about trends. Are these even relevant to us anymore? I say yes! But like everything else, we need to make them our own. My advice is usually to create a wardrobe of basics and then pick and choose statement and trendy pieces to mix in here and there.
Trends can be fun and can stretch us out of our comfort zone to try new things. Or even encourage us to revisit styles we swore we’d never wear again! LOL! But I think the main point about trends is that you need to pick and choose what works for you, what you vibe with, and leave the rest alone.
Ready for a spring/summer wardrobe refresh?
White jeans are a wardrobe staple for many stylish women. They can make an outfit look chic and fresh. But white pants can also a bit of the pain in the butt, right? You need a pair that’s flattering, first of all. And secondly, it would be nice to know that if you spill something wearing them, it won’t ruin your day. Chico’s to the rescue with flattering and stain-resistant white denim. Along with a cool poncho and fun jewelry, it makes a great summer outfit.
