Gray Hair Transition – 16 Week Update!

March 28, 2020

Here’s my latest update on growing out my gray!  I’m about 16 weeks with no dye at all. I’m starting to get an idea of the color it will be, though I’m not sure what’s you’d call it. I asked my Grey & Proud Facebook group, and my favorite answer is “Champagne Silver” …. I’ll take it!!

I was planning on trimming several inches at least, and maybe more, as well as putting in a few low lights to blend the shades together a bit better. But of course we’re all on a beauty treatment break, aren’t we?  Ladies, if you were ever on the fence about going gray, this could be your window of opportunity. You can’t get your roots done right now anyway. And nobody is going anywhere for awhile! Just a thought! 😜

going gray gracefully

I’m excited about my natural color and my new hair is so soft and silky!  But I admit, the transition is slooooow.  Ladies, the grow out process is not for wimps!

I don’t think anything really makes your hair grow faster, but just in case I’m taking my Biotin Gummies and Collagen Powder.  I’m also massaging my scalp when I think of it. I figure it can’t hurt and it makes me feel like I’m doing something!

I also bought myself a silk pillowcase which is supposed to be really good for your hair and your skin. And a nice boar bristle hairbrush as well.  I’m going to all this trouble so I might as well treat my hair like gold, right?

My favorite hair products to use right now are Pravana The Perfect Blond Masque, The Dumb Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo, and Celeb Luxury Viral Color Conditioner in Silver.

I had my appointment with my hairdresser two weeks ago but that was cancelled. So now I am ful of glitters and I don t like it at all. As soon as we have the green light I will make a appointment!

I get it! I can’t wait for an appointment too. Even though I’m growing out the color, I sure could use a cut!!😩

Turns out I’m in pretty good shape for a pandemic quarantine- my husband cuts my hair in a long lob and I layer the ends myself, I started growing out my gray 4 years ago and I do my own gel manicures. I’m just keeping up my usual schedule of grooming maintenance, skincare, hair conditioning etc. It’s harder to give up my warm water aerobics and exercise at home…

Oh it’s so funny that you just wrote this. I started watching DIY haircut videos on YouTube today. My goodness, do I dare? It looks like fun anyway! 😂 I’m going to have to think about that one. But yes, I actually like giving myself mani/pedis, even though it never looks as good as it goes when I get them done. I too am trying to keep my routine. I always worked out at home, so that’s an easy one for me. So … if I make a video of me cutting my own hair, will you watch it?!😜

I’m really missing getting my nails done. I had the last extensions removed to give my own a rest and now they are in horrible condition so I have to keep them really short. Mind you, with all the hand washing I’m using a huge amount of hand cream so maybe my nails will appreciate it and grow stronger eventually!

Yeah, wouldn’t it be nice to go get a mani/pedi again?!! Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂

REALLY miss my acrylic nails. I spent 6 hours yesterday soaking and removing them. Now my nails are so sensitive but they’ll survive. 👍 . Next are toes…..but when I think of those impacted by the quarantine this pales in comparison.

I know … we have so much to be grateful for but these little things can sure get to us. I really feel like my eyebrows are getting out of control! 😂

My nails seem to be growing like weeds! Could it be all the hand washing? 😉 I’ve given my self two manicures so far and need to do it again this week. I’m going to let my hair grow until I can get into my stylist… however long that may be. At least I’m on her list for an appointment. Your roots look good. You really lucked into the right time for letting it grow out.

I did luck out with the timing of growing out my natural hair color, right? Very lucky! Though, I do wish I could’ve gotten some blending color before the lockdown. Oh well … !! Thanks SO much for stopping by the blog, Babs! Loving your comments! OXOX
