Leopard Midi Skirt

January 31, 2019

I always love a midi skirt and there’s just something about a hankerchief hem that I’ve always loved too, so when I saw this skirt on sale at Macy’s, I couldn’t resist.  Unfortunately, I’m not the only one who couldn’t resist and it’s all sold out, but I did find another great option.

Wardrobe Building – Part 1 & 2 – Silhouette & Color

January 27, 2019

For 2019 I’m excited to do a series of blog posts about how to build a wardrobe, starting from the very beginning! I’ve come up with a method, though nothing in this process is actually created by me, certainly not from scratch.  It’s more of  a putting together of things I’ve learned along the way, from my fashion classes in college, to helping friends shop. to style blogging, to creating my own wardrobe one piece at a time. I’m really excited about this and hope you find it helpful!

I’ll try to give you a new topic each month and this month, I wanted to start at the very beginning: let’s talk about silhouette and color.

NYFW Preview

January 24, 2019

For a fashionista, New York Fashion Week is like Christmas morning, birthday cake, and trip to Disneyland all rolled into one! It’s a chance to really experience the magic of fashion, the art and performance of it … and to see other people, from all over the world, all who love fashion just as much as you do.

I know bloggers get ribbed a bit for being a season ahead … (like talking spring trends in January!), but remember the designers are much further ahead than that. This February they will be showing collections for Fall/Winter 2019/2020!

This lovely sketch is courtesy of Son Jung Wan and gives a little hint of what’s to come down the runway in a couple of weeks. Son Jung Wan is always one of my very VERY favorite shows.  She always designs visions of glamour, punctuated with hints of whimsy.  I dream of wearing a Son Jung Wan piece some day!

Crochet in the Winter

January 20, 2019

This is the time of the year when all the spring trends start hitting the stores and the magazines, and yet for most of us, it’s still chilly and will be for awhile.  Crochet is going to be big for spring 2019 and here’s my take on wearing the trend on a cool day.

January 16, 2019

I always like to add a little edge or a bit of whimsy to a look, so here I added a few fun pieces to my standard winter uniform of jeans and boots.

Cozy Coffee Look

January 9, 2019

One of my favorite things to do is to go out for coffee, especially when there are pastries involved.  AND especially when I have time to relax a bit, either chat with a buddy in person or interact on social media with my friends from all over the world!

I made sure to take a little coffee break to myself over my 2 weeks off from teaching.  Here’s what I wore, and even though it’s a great out-to-coffee look, it’s also a perfect casual work look and I’m sure I’ll be wearing this head to toe for teaching one of these cold days (edited to add: wearing it today!).
