Packing for a Summer Adventure!

Are you an expert at packing?  It never has been my finest skill.  Traveling in Europe in my younger years, I was constantly teased about being the crazy American with WAY too much luggage.  I even have a photo of me sitting in a train station on a mountain of suitcases!  (Need to find that photo for a good laugh!)

My husband and I have been planning a vacation and I’ve been working on a capsule travel wardrobe, with the focus on practical and comfortable.  But of course I also want to feel like me … a little edgy, a little sassy, a little fun!

 Lately my trips have been either tropical or to New York fashion week, but neither of those packing strategies were going to work well for this trip to Amsterdam.  Of course, I went to my favorite bloggers who are regular travelers for some ideas.  This post from Susan at Une Femme d’un Certain Age was super helpful.

So, here’s what I’ve put together so far.  I’m taking 2 pairs of jeans, black pants, a track pants.  Also taking a variety of t-shirts both short sleeve and 3/4 length.  I’ll be keeping my feet comfy with only the most comfortable sandals and sneakers.  I think I’ll stick in one Karina dress (great for travel) and a maxi skirt as well.  For jackets, I’m bringing a denim jacket and a utility vest.  I also added a packable rain jacket for a rainy day. I’ll be keeping accessories simple as well with silver hoops and gold dangling earrings, a leopard print scarf, and either a crossbody bag or my fanny pack. (Hubby will be carrying a backpack for anything that won’t fit!)

Here’s my bird’s eye view of my travel wardrobe so far.  Can I just tell you that I almost broke my neck getting this shot?  LOL.  I balanced on top of the footboard with the camera over my head.  (That has to count as a yoga move or something right?)

I may change my mind on a few things.  I’ve already decided my new black and white chucks aren’t broken in enough yet, so I’ll replace them with either my oxblood pair or some Vans.  And some new earrings just arrived, so I’ll be replacing the gold earrings as well.

I think the really interesting post will be the one I write when I get back and I’ll see how the wardrobe worked out for me!
