I’m starting a new series on basics for wardrobe building and how can I not start with the best and most fundamental, the Little Black Dress? One reason so many of us buy a lot but still look in our closet and claim we have nothing to wear is because we focus on the bright shiny new stuff and forget the basics. At least that’s been my issue in the past, a wardrobe that’s all spice no substance. Though some women do seem to have the opposite problem and could stand to add a little pizazz!
Let me start with a cute story. Many years ago, my father called me one day and said that in the doctor’s waiting room he read in a magazine that every woman needed a Little Black Dress and he wanted to make sure I had one! Haha …. Daddy! (Damn, I miss him and my mom so much!)
I’ve been wanting a pair of Over the Knee boots, even though I knew it wasn’t going to be a trend that would be super flattering on me or that I would wear very often.
When I saw these burgundy ones on a fab sale at Nordstrom Rack, I couldn’t resist giving them a try.
Besides, I figured they would be perfect for this month’s How I Wear My series!
Every time I get a new Karina dress, I swear it’s my favorite one. So crazy over this Mia in the teal rose print. Sure, I’m fickle with the styles and prints, but I’m loyal to Karina Dresses!
(Side note: Gee, look how happy I am posing next to chocolate!)
Karina dresses are always my go-to easy-to-wear option. Have you checked out their fall collection yet? Today I’m wearing the flattering Megan dress with 3/4 length sleeves in the pretty Cranberry Cross Dot pattern.
When I first got the invitation to Reward Style’s Hostessing Workshop, I wasn’t too excited. Entertaining to me means I’ll order the pizza and you bring the paper plates. But when I realized that it would be a great way to meet and spend time with some of my favorite bloggers I was all in!
For those of you who don’t know, along with being a style blogger, I’m also a high school English teacher. I love my job (mostly), but it’s always an adjustment going back to work after a summer of blogging on my own schedule.
