Last time I got my hair done, my hairdresser was wearing the coolest harem pants and all of a sudden I had to have a pair. I found this inexpensive pair on Amazon and they’re great, though I think for a full harem effect, I might need to go up a size. Honestly, they fit more like joggers.
Definitely one of my favorite things about summer is getting time to hang with my girls! Last week I got to have lunch with Cathy of Bay Area Fashionista at Flights in Campbell. Cute atmosphere, good food, and fabulous company!
It’s that time of year again and I keep hearing … “suns out, bums out” …. “suns out, guns out” … ! Oh dear … what if you’re less than excited about showing off your legs and arms than … whoever made up those silly sayings?! Me to the rescue with my summer style guide …. especially for women over 40, over 50, and beyond, who want to look stylish AND stay cool, want to look chic AND be a bit covered up!

How much skin to show is totally a personal question that no one can answer for you but yourself. I’m more comfortable and confident being a bit more covered up. In the old days, there were so many rules about fashion and age, but now anything goes really. I had a dear friend who wore halter tops and shorts into her late 60’s! Even though it’s not a choice I would make, it fit her personality and she felt happy and cute. That’s all that matters. You do you!

So Ladies, I was thinking about what summer wardrobe items that I couldn’t live without and I thought of these two gauze maxi skirts that I’ve had for years, one black and one white. I knew I got a lot of wear out of both of them, but when I started going back through photos, I was even more amazed how often I wear them!
My mom used to live in tops like this in the summer. Cotton knit, 3/4 sleeve, floral or stripes … And I totally get it. They’re so versatile, comfortable, and flattering.
I miss my mom so much. And yeah, that lady was right about so many things!
We’re having a lovely 4th so far … we had a great brunch with friends and are looking forward to BBQing and fireworks later. How’s your 4th going so far, Friends?
I love a maxi skirt in the summer. I’ve already shared how I hate shorts, and I’m never really tan, so a maxi skirt covers my legs and is cool and breezy and feels just right for summer!
