About the blog: Fashion Should Be Fun is me talking to you, other middle aged women like me who are over 40, but not over fashion. We still want to look beautiful and stylish. We still want to have fun with trends. And we don’t need anyone giving us rules, because we’re all different. We all have our own shapes and bodies, parts we’d like to cover and parts we still don’t mind showing off a bit. This is a place for me to share my love of fashion with you, style ideas, tips, trends, and inspiration. I know how liking the way we look can translate into confidence and energy. I know we have so much life left to live and so much adventure ahead of us. Let’s show the world you’re never too old to have fun and be fierce!
I’ve made a commitment to be sure to buy pieces that I know I’ll wear multiple times and to share different ways of styling things as well. Today I’m sharing my Modern Utility Jumpsuit styled for fall. Check out the spring/summer styling in case you missed it.
I can’t stop gushing about how much I love fall. Here in California, we usually have to wait until mid-October for any sign of actually fall weather, but we got teased with some last week and I’m so ready and excited!
Even though it’s my favorite season, ironically I don’t look that good in a lot of fall colors. I’m more of a cooler tone. But I can’t help but think my gamble paid off with this “Currant” color turtleneck from Everlane. Loving this color for me, if I do say so myself!
I admit to spending a lot of time in very casual outfits these days. These Adidas track pants that I bought when we all first locked down in March have been in constant rotation. Here I styled them with a tee, belt bag, and some new cool slides.
I’m really making an effort to shop more responsibly and you don’t get much more responsible than Everlane! And you don’t get much cooler than this Modern Utility Jumpsuit!
“Hi my name is Dawn Lucy, and I’m a recovered fast fashion addict.”
I admit it. I used to love fast fashion. Why spend a lot when you can spend a little? When people would say “oh you’ll have that piece for years” I used to counter with “Oh God, I hope not!”
But things change. Our awareness shifts over time and we are now realizing the high cost of cheap fashion. And as a fashion fans, most of us are trying to make some positive changes. And it’s refreshing! And actually way more fun than I thought it would be. That’s right, I said FUN! There is a sense of joy that comes with being more selective and thoughtful about our choices. The more I experience high quality clothing, the more I appreciate the difference.
With all that in mind, I’ve made a change to supporting more eco-friendly businesses, including Mount Indigo, a small company with a mighty mission to help keep our planet beautiful and “instagrammable.”
Mount Indigo makes sending a message about the environment fun, with sassy graphic t-shirts and denim jackets!
